Psalm 103:1-3
Bless the Lord, O my soul,
And all that is within me, bless His holy name.
All that is within --- whether that means
cancer or childless or loss.
We measure our lives by His Goodness
not by what happens to us.
Bless the Lord, O my soul,
Everything in our lives is by His Design.
And forget none of His benefits;
Who pardons all your iniquities,
Who heals all your diseases;
Bless the Lord, O my soul,
Everything in our lives is by His Design.
And forget none of His benefits;
Who pardons all your iniquities,
Who heals all your diseases;
Bless the LORD, O my soul.
I find no words adequate this day to say
what is in my heart.
I do not like the pain of what I freshly face
but I love the hope that is mine in Him.
He will strengthen me.
Bless the LORD, O my soul.
Bev, thanks for the reminder to measure our lives by God's goodness, not by circumstances.

My doctor had no suspicion of cancer. In fact, I asked her to biopsy one of the lesions that itched me. She said it was no problem but looked under a magnifying glass or whatever they are called. She said she was going to biopsy it. I never thought about it again. The call came yesterday morning as I walked off the plane and onto the beaches of Florida, literally. I was sitting on the beach when I heard the voicemail. It took 4 hours to get in touch with them. Stage 0 cancer. No worries, they said. Unless you are thinking: why are these cancer cells in my body growing? Psalm 102:13 was the verse I had just read and sensed God saying to me: Arise! I will have compassion on you and your family and your country. He will. He is. The margins were clear on the biopsy so I am good to go. Or am I? Do we base our lives on reports? No. My hope is in Him despite the pain that I don't like. Standing up. Holding fast. He is my everything. May I be more concerned about cancer of my soul than cancer of my body.

ReplyDeleteWho else but Jesus? Who heals our diseases? Who pardons our iniquities? Sweet mercies of Jesus alone!
Wherever we are, He meets us there. He saves us from our very selves! Bless The Lord with my whole being-- all that I am bless Him for Who He is and all that He is to me. Amen?
There is a POWERFUL prayer on Beth's blog today. May we all be courageous enough to pray it with her!

I woke up yesterday morning with Psalm 103:1 running through my head...Bless the Lord, Oh my soul.bless His Holy name. Then to go to the daily reading and read it as part of the reading, what a blessing. Have been praying for you sweet Bev. Oh, May I too be more concerned about the cancer in my soul than any other concern I may have. Blessings on all the Pearls today. Happy Independence Day. We are all truly free, only in Christ Jesus.
