What man is he that loves life?
"Let the wisdom of Solomon guide you
to the narrow road that will
EXPOSE your foolishness
CRUSH your arrogance
WHET your appetite
RELEASE your love
FILL you with hope"
66 LL
This is no manual for living.
This is wisdom beyond words.
This is strength to resolve to be holy.
Words like...
"Love covers all transgressions." Proverbs 10:12
"When here are many words, transgression is unavoidable, but he who restrains his lips is wise." Proverbs 10:19
"Anxiety in a man's heart weighs it down, but a good word makes it glad." Proverbs 12:25
No way on earth that we can make this kind of freedom in life happen. Solomon identifies the foolishness we all encounter day in/day out.
"Expect to feel the shame of exposure."
"Expect to feel the appeal of wisdom." 66LL
PRAYER FROM PSALMS
Psalm 51:6 Behold, O God, You do desire Truth in my innermost being. And in the hidden parts, which no man can see and sometimes not even me, make me to know Wisdom on this narrow road.
The longer I live and understand that there is not a thing that I have that He has not given me. I can do nothing myself. He is the source of my faith, He is the source of my courage, He is the source of my faithfulness to Him. He and His Word are the only guidelines to living life here on this dying world. I have a hope, I have a future, I have a destiny and it is Him and because of Him and nothing that I have done. May He give me more wisdom to learn more Of Him today.
ReplyDeleteOh my tongue! Too many words. I know this surprises you all that i (oh verbosity) would get myself into trouble with too many words. Grin.
ReplyDeleteBut I also know that a word aptly spoken can bring life to dry bones. Proverbs 10:11 describes the mouth of the righteous as a "well of life." We can help others and encourage them this day by what we say about and to them.
Gracious Spirit, dwell with me;
I myself would gracious be;
And with words that help and heal
Would Thy life in mine reveal. -- Thomas Lynch
I feel your pain..ha, ha...I know I use too many words and it is so hard for me to use less. For I think somehow I need to tell all of the details. Too many words can indeed get you into hot water. I can watch what I say and refrain from saying everything that pops into my head or crosses my mind. I too want to use words that edify and build up and not tear down. You encouraged me today. Bless you.
DeleteToo many words and sometimes not enough action. Lord, help me to speak in a godly way and never try to con myself or others I've spoken in truth and love when I have not. Help me not to be lazy in any area of my life.
