February 8 ... Leviticus 22 - 23 "I Make You Holy"

Leviticus 22:33 "I am God Who makes you holy and brought you out of your wilderness to be your God."  Holiness is not based on what we "do" but Whose we are.  I have thought so much about I Cor 10:13 as we read through Leviticus.  There is no temptation that seizes us that was not common to the Israelites.  Ambition.  Jealousy.  Curved in.  Makes me wonder if they were tempted to think:  Here comes Moses again with one more impossible code to follow.  And to try to get all of that right?  But it was out of their devotion to God, out of their love for Him that they didn't let "sin crouch at their door."  As sin crouches at our doors this day, I wonder what we want more than to live out of the Love of God?  Oh that I would be more obsessed with God and His Character and advancing His Kingdom than self-obsessed with my own problems!  God-obsessed!

Here's to a new week, everybody! I'm going to try to be as obedient as I know how to be and rely completely on the Holy Spirit to guide and counsel me!

Let's make it a good one! Somebody reading this is having a BIG birthday tomorrow! (Sh... don't tell anybody, but it's Annette!)

Thanks again for taking this journey with me.
    Love, Angie xoxo

  2. As I read today's selection God reminded me to be Holy. "I AM" is Holy God and I(Sylvia) am not.
With all the instructions we have been reading the thought delights me that I am under the new covenant of Jesus blood and righteousness.

When I arrived at Lev 23:44 Moses posted a calendar for these events. I googled for a Jewish Calendar and located one to learn more of the scripture and my Jewish history by way of Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior.

This may seem trite to some of you however, I was so blessed on Jan 24th Pastor Greg's message from Genesis 13 & 14. Pastor asked Adam Mason from our Church Counseling Center to assist him with the message that day. Adam clarified the religous jargon "Living in the Flesh" and "Living in the Spirit". Adam's simple definition is "Living in the Flesh is Self Obsession" and Living in the Spirit is God Obsession". With God's grace that was a lightbulb moment for me as I had some issues that day I could easily realize Sylvia move over to "God Obessesion". I did and God always blesses obedience.

  3. Bev - What an amazing thought, "Oh that I would be more obsessed with God and His Character and advancing His Kingdom than self-obsessed with my own problems!"

How true that is with me. I obsess over making sure everything is just so, that many times I overlook what my true obsession would be which should be with the Lord and who He Is and Advancing His Kingdom.

  4. Lev 22:31 DO what I tell you; LIVE (emphasis mine) what I tell you. I am God.

I so want 2010 to be the year I live out God's word.

Have a blessed week everyone. I am going to add a few more verses on my cover to cover blog which really spoke to me.

  5. "who brought you out of your wilderness..." not THE wilderness, but YOUR wilderness. I'm needing a ticket out of wilderness this day to the Promised Land, and that train already left the station. Another one leaves in half an hour. Will I be ready to ride into the Promised Land, or will I be entangled in my wilderness? I want to be ready for Promised Land victory in my 'jubilee year," which starts tomorrow.

Love to you all, Annette G

  6. Annette,

Thank you for reminding me most of the time it is MY Wilderness that I got myself into and My Wilderness that more than likely I created on my own.

Sylvia Be Still and Know...Wait upon the LORD in FAITH..there needs to be no Plan B.

Your writing talent and skills bless me richly.

Love you with another Song I must Sing.

  7. As I was reading, I kept thinking about the correlation between God's holiness and our obedience. God says, "Do what I tell you; live what I tell you. I am God."

I'm not holy because I obey. I obey because God Himself makes me holy. It's about Him, not me.

It's another day's reading that I don't necessarily understand all of the reasons behind the incredible detail, but I appreciate what it says about God. He cares, He sees, and He's in all of the details in my life too.

O Lord, may I see you in the details and trust you in the messiness of life!

  8. "When you reap the harvest of your land, don't reap the corners of your field or gather the gleanings. Leave them for the poor and the foreigners. I am God, your God."

Thank You, Holy GOD, for reminding me to not always think about myself, but to remember those who are poor and different from me.

And thank You, Holy God, for supplying all my needs as I give with an obedient heart.

You are my God. My God. Yes, You are.
