February 9 ... Leviticus 24 - 25 "Holy Energy"

Leviticus 25:17 - "Don't cheat each other. Fear your God. I am God, your God."  There's a place inside of me that wants to cheat and hold back from giving myself to you for fear of rejection even at my old age!  If you really knew me, would you want me?  I'm so moved by how much I resist reading these details but am stirred by these words prompting me to be clean, to be holy for He is holy!  66 Love Letters:  "Life is not about you.  And, thanks to God's way of relating, it's not only about Him.  It's all about us.  God and you.  God and me.  Me and you.  And everyone else.  Life is all about relationships."  So, I'll keep on keeping on alongside of you and with this prayer..."God, show me where I relate with unholy energy.  Overcome my defensive self-justifying tendency that makes me see another's unholiness more clearly than my own.  Give me the desire to relate with holy energy  And convince me that expressing Your love to others by relating to them the way You relate to me will deepen Your pleasure in me and my soul-satisfying devotion to You."

  2. As I read about this year of Jubilee, I couldn't help but dig back in the memory of my Jubilee Year of life on this earth. My family and friends gave me a SURPRISE B-day Party a few weeks early so I would not suspect and was I ever surprised. I couldn't believe I had no clue what was about to happen. As I opened the front door confetti exploded from everywhere, cheerful voices from family, neighbors and wonderful friends of love were just waiting for me to start the celebration. What JOY I experienced that evening. Yes, now to return to today's reading. Sylvia Be Holy...Life is about relationships and it all begins with developing my relationship with God. The Joy I experienced as I began jubilee is nothing compared to the JOY God has waiting for me as I become more Obedient to His Word and Call on my Daily Life.

Today is Annette's first day of her Jubilee year. I come to Holy God and am thankful for Annette G. and Annie's Eyes for it is through meeting her in Sunday School about ten years ago that I have come to know this amazing group of bloggers and thankful to God for the difference you make in me to improve my relationship with our HOLY God.

  3. Chapter 25 reminds me that I am a steward of my things/possessions not the true owner. They belong to God and He has entrusted them to me.

    Happy Birthday Annette!!!

  4. Today's readings remind me nothing is "mine", it is all the Lord's. I am always to treat people fairly and be a woman of integrity.

Chapter 25:55 ends with the words: I brought you out of Egypt. I am God, your God.

I want to always dwell in the Promised Land and serve our God.

  5. "Overcome my defensive self-justifying tendency that makes me see another's unholiness more clearly than my own." Ouch, Ouch, Ouch, Ouch, Ouch!

God just winked at me as I read today's readings. How could it be that THIS is Annette's 50th birthday? We couldn't have planned it any better! I'm burning a candle continually today! "Sound the ram's horn all over the land."

    Love you guys!

  6. Happy Birthday to our dear friend Annette!!! Your tongue is the pen of a ready writer - Psalm 45:1. HE is enthralled with your inward beauty - Psalm 45:11. Your life is a living letter written on our hearts not with human hands but by the Spirit of our Strong and Mighty God - 2 Cor 3:1-5. How God could bring you into my life through blogging is amazing to me. I remember the moment I met you for the first time at a random Starbucks in Houston and I was so touched by your presence, the Presence of a Beautiful God that pours out of you - Psalm 50:2. So grateful to God for your life for you have found a Narrow Road that only few find and you are helping all of us find Him there. Love you more than words can say! Bev

  7. Today's reading got me thinking about the culture we live in, one that certainly doesn't honor our God.

"Anyone who blasphemes the Name of GOD must be put to death." Wow. God's Name is profaned endlessly and most people think nothing of it. Yet, it's very serious to our Lord, and this man was stoned to death at God's command. Yes, our thoughts are not His thoughts.

Even the idea of a jubilee - can you imagine people being freed and redeemed like that today?? As I write this, I realize that people ARE being freed and redeemed today - through our amazing Savior.

The more I read in Leviticus, the more I praise and thank our God that HE is in control and His purposes will prevail. I don't have to understand it all for it to be true. So grateful for his redemption in my life!

  9. His provision for a Jubilee year being our readings for February 9--He knew on this day, I would be reading this passage on the celebration day for my fiftieth year. Amazing graces.

The Jubilee Year--Redemption, Rest and Return!

As I read, I loved how He made it clear that the property was not owned by anyone-they were to calculate worth based on RENTING the use of it for crops. A very good reminder: "The earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof" 1 Cor 10:26

Everything is His. A consecrated year when everyone is freed and made holy and rests, for the Work is done! This celebration surely is a "shadow of things to come"

Hebrews 1:1-3 "In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe. The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven."

My prayer this day is to walk in joy and freedom, in respect for His mighty and atoning Work on my behalf.

It is a privilege to walk with each of you on this journey through His Word. Thank you for all the love you show me.

  12. Annette, what a special blessing that your Jubilee birthday comes on the EXACT date we are reading about the year of Jubilee declared by God for His people! I know you don't look your age because I got to see your beautiful face last month at the Siesta event! So glad to meet you and everyone else I love dearly through this blog community! Enjoy your day and may the Joy of the LORD rest on you. I love your giving heart and your radiant smile...Christ beams through you...

Now on to my thoughts on this day's readings...

"Because the People of Israel are my servants whom I brought out of Egypt, they must never be sold as slaves."

That word...slaves...I picture myself helping an Israelite mother of 12...cleaning, cooking, fetching, etc. No name, just a pair of arms and legs to work and be ordered around.

But my God has declared me free! I'm liberated! No bondage, no captivity, no slave to sin! We are His servants...servants of the Most High God! I'm so glad that He is my God and I am free in Christ...

Thank You, God, for setting us free from the curse of sin. I am free indeed! Jubilantly free!
