February 7 ... Leviticus 19 - 21 "First Things First"

Leviticus 19:4 "Don't take up with no-god idols. I am God, your God."  That verse to me is so stirring that HE is my God.  I think I see all of the rules in this verse---No Idols--- and that includes everything from having children to having a great life to having what I want to having successful relationships.  Anything except God is an idol. Put first things first and we get second things thrown; put second things first and we lose both first and second things (C.S. Lewis).  This passage shows over and over how much we need to be clean and pure ... and it's impossible without Him.

  1. Be Holy for I am Holy. Keep my Sabbath. Lev 19:1-3

There is no gray area with God. He is black and white. The detailed instructions are there. God is making sure I understand exactly what He means with this more detailed description of the ten commandments which was first revealed in Exodus.

Upon completing today's selection it was apparent to me consistency in Obedience brings a Deep satisfaction that only Elohim the One True God is able to Deliver. Be Holy for I am Holy. Keep my Sabbath.

I am just now begnning to learn what Sabbath really means. Mark Buchanan is helping me learn The Rest of God. Praise God Jehovah that not only is Jehovah a God of second chances but of third, fourth, etc. The consistency of Yaweh's Rich blessings in my life are tied to His Amazing Love and my obedience to the Lord of Lords and King of Kings, Jesus Christ.

  2. He can only tolerate what is perfect and Holy. He is a jealous God. When I read today's readings it is sort of confusing. Some of those rules still stand today, but some (such as eating meat with blood... being considered "unclean" during certain times of the month etc.) don't seem to be an issue and seem "normal" in our day. Hmmm... a bit confusing to me. I totally understand the He must be our only God, so I'm clinging on to that part!

    Have a nice "Sabbath" day!
    Love, Angie xoxo

  4. I posted more on my blog, Love Letters From My Lord.

Have you noticed that there is NO Sacrifice or Offering for willful disobedience?

The sins of Molech...the prince of darkness was working much evil in this practice. Children were sacrificed to gods. God was livid over these practices. And still is because I believe we have our own sins of Molech today.

Mark 12 records Christ's response concerning God's commandments.

    God first.
Love your neighbor as you love yourself.

I guess that is the law in a nutshell.
