January 21 "Old Mercies" Exodus 10-12

God makes all things new to those He calls to Himself.  But that dreadful night, all were asked to come to God's terms, not their own terms.  Same for the day that we live for---we shall answer the greatest question ever asked of us.  May we live for God's terms not ours.

And the scene in these verses is this:  Three days and three nights in the horror by darkness. Penultimate plague of thick darkness symbolizes judgment and abandonment as in Matthew 27:45, God why have you forsaken Me?   Exodus 10:22-23 Yet, the light broke a far more terrible calamity----their first-born struck by a plague that reached from the heights of the castles to the depths of the dungeons.  No one was exempt.  And that's how it will be on The Last Day.  May we live on God's terms this day.

No Israelite could stir out of doors---Exodus 12:29--- "until called to march out of Egypt." Their safety was the blood over their doors. Protection over their lives. There. They must stay and wait for God. There. They were encouraged: "To look backward, that they might remember what great things God had done for them." What will encourage us deeply is to march on in those old mercies.

  1. " “This is what the Lord, the God of the Hebrews, says: ‘How long will you refuse to humble yourself before me?"

    The LORD is God.

    My prayer today:
LORD, help me to have a humbled heart before you. Help me to listen to your desires and direction for my life. Do not let me have a hardened heart.
