December 8 "Live Soberly, Righteously, Godly" Titus 1, 2, 3

How do we then live?
Soberly - mastering those passions
Righteously - loving our duty toward our neighbor
Godly - living in the presence of the Eternal

And that is the wrap on the Christian life.
In this present world. Or,
as the MacLaren commentary says:
"in the present course of things."
We are only passing through. Transitory.
This "passing scene" leads us to believe
there is a "different course of things" at hand.

MacLaren's Commentary calls it this way:
These Titus words are the "fair picture" of what our lives should be;
the impossible task of man to live this way;
and the Grace to make this real life possible.

Grace. It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions. We live for another place. Live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the Blessed Hope. Titus 3:12.

DEAR GOD, PLEASE CHANGE ME IN 10,000 MOMENTS of this passing scene; this different course of things at hand.  May I this day live soberly
