November 8 "God of Comofort" 2 Corinthians 1-2

The God of all Comfort comforts us in all our sorrows that we may comfort others in any suffering. 2 Cor 1:4
Ellicott Commentary expresses this passage with such genuine words.  Paul thought that the name of God, "God of all Comfort, was the outcome of his living personal experience."  I can hear Paul sharing in a conversation with someone desperate for help.  I hear words ringing true from Paul's heart that he had learned this when he hit the bottom.  The roughest patch of all.  The God of all Comfort stepped in for Paul, for me, for you.
This commentary takes it a step deeper.  The power to comfort varies with the measure in which we have been comforted ourselves.  "Sorrow alone may lead to sympathy, but it falls short of that power to speak a word in season to them that are weary." Isaiah 1:4.
DEAR GOD, PLEASE CHANGE US IN OUR 10,000 MOMENTS OF SUFFERING that we may come boldly before Your Throne of Grace.  May we find mercy and grace today to help us in our needs.  No small words here.  Oh God of Comfort!  We need you!
