November 9 "Grains of Gold" 2 Corinthians 3

You yourselves are our letter, written on our hearts, known and read by everybody.

You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts. 2 Cor 3:3-4

Written not with the usual ink.
Written with the finger of God, says one commentary.
Like the 10 Commandments.  Exodus 31:18

Written not on tablets of stone.
Written in their hearts by the Spirit of God.
Like the Law written in our hearts.  Jeremiah 31:31-33

Ellicott says one picture succeeds another in a dissolving view:
From hearts of flesh.  The letter begins to disapper and
the law written on tablets takes its place.

"The red-leaved tablets of the heart are like
waxen tables on which an iron stylus makes a deep mark,
an ineradicable scar.  Eaten into their heart."  Tatooed.
Indelible traces on our inward lives.
"The river runs ceaselessly and its waters pass away,
but they bring down soil, which is deposited and makes firm land,
or perhaps they carry down grains of gold."  MacLaren's Expositions
Influencing others. Influencing ourselves way more.

DEAR GOD, PLEASE CHANGE ME IN MY 10,000 MOMENTS OF NEED.  Make a deep mark in my own heart foremost that I may give away what You have given.  That ineradicable scar.  Grains of Gold.  The Face of God.
