Paul knows that Jesus is alive in him.
That's what Paul claims.
Louder than any audible voice,
Jesus Christ is alive!
Was Paul bothered that he could not preach to the people on the bustling streets, only those in neighboring cells for 730 days in a damp, dark dungeon. Am I bothered by my circumstances this day? Am I more concerned about what I am doing, what is happening to me, than I am about bringing the Kingdom whether in a prison cell or a church. May God catch us today, unaware, off guard, anticipating, waiting, not knowing where the Spirit of God may come through next. May we hear His Voice louder than any audible voice we know.
As we celebrate the 50th anniversary of C.S. Lewis' death today, I offer a beautiful quote: "Our worst prayers may really be our best. God seems to speak to us most intimately when He catches us off guard." C.S. Lewis.
PRAYER FROM PSALMS
Father, "Forsake me not when my strength is spent." Psalm 71:9. Bring me up again from where I sit. Revive me. Breathe life into me in this prison that contains me. Let me come alive right where I am.
Psalm 71 is precious to me, thanks for including it today. A friend in my bible study told me she was praying it for me, and I read it and pray it often. We have been going through trying times for 2 years since my husband lost his job. He is actively looking for a new position, and it may involve radical changes in our lives. Please keep us in your prayers. Thank you Pearls, love you!
ReplyDeleteJanet, I will pray for you and your husband and what God has in store for the two of you. I will add this request to what I pray for you and your children and grandchildren. May Psalm 71 continue to bring you much comfort. I have it all marked up from 2006 when things started going south for my husbands law practice.....vs 9 I have often prayed for myself and as I age I find that I do indeed have less strength. He however is faithful and He will meet you right where you are. Praying big prayers to our bigger God who will sustain you if you have to make radical changes in your life. Love your heart.....
DeleteOh Janet, Saturday's post is for you. You've not thrown away your lifeline. No shipwreck for you. You've endured and in a beautiful way! My heart goes out to you as I know the pangs of unemployment well. And "radical change" is so difficult. We moved everything we owned to a brand spanking new city where we knew one couple who have remained our friends. And even here, we've had to pack away all our belongings in a 10X20 public storage unit---that was 3 years ago this month. Our stuff waits there to be opened again, someday. I cannot imagine what you are going through. So unsettling. Our radical change was so welcomed but it sounds that we pray for hope for things to remain and open where you are. May God grant you much peace in all your longings. My Love & Prayers, Bev
ReplyDeleteBev, you are such an example of perseverance and i am so thankful for your strong faith, and your willingness to share your ups and downs. I have learned so many things the last few years. The first is to hold fast to God, whenever I feel like I am lost at sea, I hold on, and sometimes that is all I can do. Recently, I realized I was holding on to our old life, our home, hiding our pain from our friends and family, and it is time to be ready to let go of everything, including pride and hold on to God wherever He takes us.
