Matthew 13:23 "Nothing Matters More than Listening" (January 19)

Matthew 13: 23 - "As for what was sown on good soil, this is the one who hears the word and understands it." So, how do we open our own ears? God has opened our ears to hear. No other explanation. What matters more to us than listening to our God?  My thoughts go to Lydia in Acts 16:14 - she was listening to the Word and God opened her heart to respond.  Oh Strong God, as we listen to You this day and what You are saying to each of us, change our hearts to be alive in You.  Open the eyes of our hearts to understand Your Word. Eph 1:28.  May we know this day a tad bit more the Hope you have called us to and the Incredibly Great Power toward each of us this day, no matter what.

2 Cor 3:2-3You are a living letter written not in ink
but on human hearts by the Spirit of God.
Would You write something today with our lives?

  1. I'm up way too late applying for jobs. Pray that something opens up.

Night before, Bob ran up to the hospital cause he heard that Al took sick rather quickly. Al died this afternoon, so unexpected. We are in shock for their family. He's my age and was in great health. It is the day that he lived for---to be with his God! Pray for his precious wife Pam who has been through much suffering and now this. May God be so present for their family in their immense grief!

Again, may you know a little bit more this day Eph 1:18
THE HOPE He has called you to
THE POWER Incredible Power toward you this day! God bless!

Still on the mend over here...

  3. "But blessed are your eyes, for they see, and your ears, for they hear." Mat. 13:16

Lord, open my eyes and my heart. I can identify with the examples and see where I have been each of of those seeds at different times in my life. Oh make my heart a fertile soil! "You have brought us into the fruitful land to eat its fruit and its good things." Jer. 2:7

Annette, it was nice to see you in passing last night. Were there any other Houston Pearls at the James study? I am amazed at how the Lord uses Beth Moore in bringing a fresh perspective to the things I have studied before and see in a whole new light.

  4. Sweet Bev, I pray again this morning for God to show you and Bob the provision and peace that you seek, that you remain steady in the center of His Will for your lives. He is more than able to resurrect the dead places. I also pray for your and Britt's healing and for Pam and her family in their loss of her husband, Al.

Michele, I was so sorry I couldn't stop the flow of traffic to give you a hug. I hope we can visit before Bible study one of these evenings. I loved the message of hope on restoration of family last night. Like you, I didn't expect doing a background study on James to invoke such love in my heart. Annette H. (Abbas Girl) sat next to me last night, and Sylvia V. has been a faithful door greeter for many years, but I didn't see her last night.

I'm so grateful for the Water of the Word for my parched soul. I feel hungrier than ever for more of Him. My prayer this morning is for ears to hear and eyes that see, His perspective, His Will, His presence in the everyday happenings.

"To you it has been given to know the secrets of the kingdom of heaven." Mat. 13:11

He who has ears, let him hear.

  5. All of your comments blessed me and reinforced the scripture so well. Praying Bev for a job for both of you and for your friends in their loss and heaven's gain. Praying for you to be healed and or Britt too. How I pray for a fertile heart and ears that will be open to receive the Word. Heard a great message on Job yesterday...have a totally new perspective on that book. I am loving reading thru the New Testament with you sweet women. I do need to know more of the incredible Power that He has for me today. Praying for each of you...

  6. Lord, Let me have spiritual ears to here and may my spiritual heart receive all You have for me.

When things settle down at the James study in a couple of weeks, maybe Houston area Pearls can drink a coffee together.
