Jesus told stories to invite them to come closer. Stories about how the tiniest Mustard Seed will one day be the biggest shade tree ever. We can be a Psalm1 offering stability and shade to our friends. And how One Beautiful Day - Matthew 13:43 "The righteous will shine like the sun in the Kingdom of their Father." That so stirs something within me! There are longings in all of us for One Thing:
We are men & women in misery who want only One Thing
Not relief from our misery (althought that would be nice)
But HOPE ---
Hope of Intimacy and Meaning and Joy Forever,
in Relationship with Our God
Who is redeeming our story. 66 LL
The doctor called Britt & told him he had to have an ultrasound on his stomach. He told the doc to call his mom. He was so cute---Britt called me and said: "What's in my stomach?? Only pregnant women have ultrasounds." The diagnosis was: Mono again, on top of pneumonia. Poor college kid. He had mono last fall then before Christmas he had 3 different mono tests and all came back negative. So he's got mono twice which isn't supposed to happen. He's okay. I'm actually way worse with bronchitis than he is at the moment w/pneumonia and mono. He does have age on his side. Our job offers/status changed today---we are back to square one. This quote from Larry means a lot to me: Not relief from misery (would be nice) but hope for Intimacy with a Beautiful Good Strong God Whom I so want to know!
ReplyDelete"'...but gather the wheat into my barn.'"
ReplyDeleteThe good harvest, gathered into God's barn.
Lovely reminder that a harvest is coming. I can't see a barn anymore without thinking spiritual aspects of sowing and reaping.
Those who sow in tears will reap with songs of joy. Psalm 126:5 NIV
SONGS of joy!
I love that you two pearls saw each other at the James study! So jealous.
ReplyDeleteI am treasuring the Revelation study by Beth. I bought the dvds at the Scripture Memory Celebration last year and have just lingered over opening them up and watching the Revelation. I do that sometimes...just savor the delight of treasure before beginning the experience. Do any of you?
I started mine last night and LOVED it! I also have the Revelation Songs cd and it is really a worship experience here in my quiet time. One song especially..."Whisper His Name" by Deluge. It is a song of needing Him.
My heart is more in love with my Jesus today than ever. I can't help but picture the way He is preparing each one of us as His bride. Bev, He is enthralled by your beauty. His Spirit watches over you continuously...jealously...passionately. I am asking Him to pour more Grace over you and your family. Press into Him.
He is birthing something in your life. Pregnant bodies really hurt when labor begins...especially when it's time to PUSH! Tell Him when you HURT and wait for His command to PUSH.
Love to all of you,
deborah
"And he did not do many mighty works there, because of their unbelief."
ReplyDeleteI'm left wondering what all I've not experienced because of unbelief. It's not undoable. A mustard seed for goodness' sake. In Sunday school, I remember a teacher giving each of us a mustard seed to hold and it was so tiny it was hard not to lose it. May we hold tight to our mustard seeds as we move toward Him. His Kingdom is at hand.
A seed is planted and grows, the harvest does not happen overnight. I pray I tend the plant and it becomes a full harvest the way God intends for all of us.
ReplyDeletePraying for you and Britt.
