November 8 "Spiritual Blindness" John 9:2

Darkness.

Grasped. Called.

John 9.

A blind man.

On the side of the road.

Jesus passes by. Sees the man.

The lifelong blind man could not see Jesus passing by. He heard His Voice. We cannot see Christ either. We can hear Him, like the blind man. Christ takes initiative in all of our lives. We love because He first loved us. We search, but He is the One seeking us out.

And that changes everything. The blind man. Lost his begging job. Lost the care of his family. Lost the support of his community. And gained way more than He had ever imagined. Gained his sight from his eyes and his heart. Gained eternity. And his sight started.

Will we respond to the calling of Christ on our lives?

PRAYER FROM PSALMS

Psalm 3:3 - Thank You, dear LORD, for lifting our head first. Life is all about You as our Great Shepherd caring for the blind, the lame of body and soul. Heal our spiritual lethargy; heal our spiritual blindness. Thank You for always being there for us.

  1. John 9:39 "And Jesus said, “For judgment I came into this world, so that those who do not see may see, and that those who see may become blind.”

Be Thou my vision, oh Lord of my heart.
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art
Thou my best Thought, by day or by night,
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.

Be our eyes, Lord. Spiritual blindness is sin-sickness. Open our eyes that we may see the way You see, forgive the way You forgive, love the way You love. Our very lives depend on it.

  2. It is an awesome thought that our Lord seeks us out and draws us to Himself. It is really not of our own initiative. He puts the desire in our hearts and it is up to us to respond. We are all elected but we don't all choose. I am so very thankful that in the Fall of 1967, He drew me to Himself and filled that void in my heart and life. I have never been alone since then. He is still opening my eyes almost on a daily basis, IF not on a daily basis. His Grace truly is amazing, for I shudder to think where I might be IF I had not responded to His drawing of me so many years ago. My very life and the lives of my children and grandchildren depended on that in order to have eternal life. I can not praise Him enough.
