Keep your gifts. I will interpret the inscription at no cost to you. Daniel 5:17. Daniel did not live for blessing. He lived for the Blessed Hope Himself. Daniel was not afraid to speak the truth: O King, God has numbered your kingdom and put an end to it---you have been weighed on the scales and found deficient. Daniel 5:27 And God took the very breath of this king along with his kingdom. Harsh words from Daniel, delivered with conviction. His words are met with a decree from a new King named Darius. You can no longer worship this God, Daniel or you will be thrown to the lions. Daniel would not compromise from his knees 3 times a day. What holds me back from praying? No decrees here in this life. Just distractions, delusions, differences of opinion, and demons wracking havoc on my drive for God. This is serious business. Daniel is thrown into the lion's den and escapes untouched. Harnesses on their mouths. Daniel 6:22. This is Daniel trusting in the unknown. The Daniel of Daniel 4:19 who was "dismayed for a while and his thoughts alarmed him." Yet, God was chopping down pride to a stump and binding it with chains of iron. Protecting Daniel and every one of us. Daniel 4:23.
PRAYER FROM PSALMS
Save me, my God, from the shame of defeat.
Defeat does not come to those who trust in You,
but to those who rebel like Nebuchadnezzar.
Teach me your ways, O Lord, make them known to me.
Teach me to really live.
I will always trust in You.
Remember your Kindness and Constant Love for me.
Teach me, a sinner, the path I should take.
Turn to me for I am lonely and weak.
Relieve me of my worries.
Consider my distress and suffering.
Forgive my sins.
I come to You.

PSALM 125

Oh, what keeps me from praying...the reasons do not hold water. Not really reasons, just weak weak flesh. Do pray but not like I should and find it so much easier to pray for others than for myself.

ReplyDeleteAmen to you both, Bev and Mary Lou. Beautiful prayer from a beautiful heart, Bev. Amen to it. And Mary Lou, the flesh is weak. I know about the deficit in my heart. Measured and found wanting, lack of prayer, worries instead of faith-filled understanding.
ReplyDeleteIt's not about the sins, thank the Lord, but the Grace He pours over us to trust in Him. May we walk through life with God at the healm like Daniel, not like Nebuchadnezzar who loved his position and filled with pride.
