Oh, Daniel! At the beginning of your supplication, a command was issued to bring insight to your understanding. Daniel 9:23. We never know when, how, if God is moving. We do know this . . . He is always moving on our behalf. "So, Daniel gave his attention to the Lord God to seek Him by prayer and supplications, with fasting, sackcloth and ashes." Daniel 9:3. What have I given my attention to this season, this month, this hour?
Daniel is a voice speaking for all of us. We all have sinned, rebelled, turned aside from God's Word. Moreover, we have not listened to the prophets. Daniel 9:5. To the Lord belongs Compassion; open shame belongs to us. Daniel 9:8.
May we pray like this prophet of old. Humble, repentant, forgiving, serious. May our prayers be filled with trust in a Good God and His Greatness, a Merciful God and His Majesty. And wherever we miss the mark, may our hands be over our mouths in awe of a Forgiving God. I do not think our world sees an iota of what we do as missing the mark. Either we live self-focused or truly alive.
PRAYER FROM PSALMS
Psalm 6:2-10
Have mercy on me, LORD, for I am weak.
Heal me, LORD, for my bones are shuddering.
My soul too is shuddering greatly---
and you, LORD, how long...?
Turn Back, LORD.
That's it, God.
We just do not know how long we have to
endure what we are currently going through!
No words. You hear the sound of weeping.
You have received my prayer.
On You we wait.
Mercy!

I'm reading in Revelation at this very same place with a few friends who meet on Wednesdays.
ReplyDeleteWe all have wondered how John could have stood to watch everything that he saw. But Daniel saw the very same thing in his vision. He saw it all play out.
His is an everlasting Kingdom. His dominion will have no end. He is the Ancient of Days and our very Hope and Future. Come, Lord Jesus! Come quickly!
