Does our Redeemer hold all things in our life?
Job knew it. He knew God was everywhere.
He knew prosperity did not depend on right living.
"What would we gain if we entreat Him?" remarked Job to his accusers.
Job 21:16
Elphaz, a lousy friend, replies:
"Is not your wickedness great,
and your iniquities without end?"
Job 22:5
"Yield NOW and be at peace with God."
Job 22:21
"Return to the Almighty."
Job 22:23
Job never had really checked out from God.
He was not an enemy of his Redeemer.
He was just in insurmountable pain---the pain was too great.
Job recognized his errors:
He believed that God did not chastise for sin.
He believed that evil people were not visited for their sins.
He recognized that his complaint was rebellion but he knew this:
"When He has tried me, I shall come forth as gold."
Job 23:9
"It is God who has made my heart faint."
Job 23:14.
"I am not silenced by the darkness." ~~~~
Was that it? Shouldn't he have been silenced?
What was God bringing him deeper to---and
what about you and me?
What is God calling us to in our suffering?
PRAYER FROM PSALMS
Your Promise, O God, in my suffering is that Your Word will quicken me.
Oh! God! Quicken this heart of mine in those dark places that know not
your Gospel.
