June 24 "God Speaks Only Once" Psalm 62:11

This is a rough patch that I am in. I came to the Word today so needing a word.
When I happened on Ps 59:9, it took my breath away: "My God in His lovingkindness will meet me." Not because of my performance or lack thereof, but because of His Love. Wait only on Him.

This morning I read Revelations 19 about the day we live for.

When God stops the sun from rising and
shuts this groaning world down and
rides into our lives forever.
He will stand on this earth.
And His Name ... Rev 19:13 says, His Name is the Word of God.

"My soul waits in silence for God only." O my soul, wait in silence for the Word of God alone. Ps 62:1 . "Trust in Him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before Him." Ps 62:8 The Living Word longs to meet us.  I'm way too wrapped up in what's happening here.

God spoke once;
Twice I heard this: Power belongs to God. Lovingkindness is His. Ps 62:11.
Immaculate. Immutable. Invisible. Incomprehensible.
God doesn't need to speak twice. He speaks once and things happen. He commands a world and it stands fast every single day. We speak and sometimes we do not have much to say. God speaks and it is done. In Latin, the meaning for twice means "uncertain." We hear again and again the sound of God's Voice through Creation, Sovereignty, Providence, The Word.

May we keep on hearing this One Word: God is powerful and full of love. May His thunderous Voice echo again and again and again both of these truths.

PRAYER FROM PSALMS
Ps 61:1-2 Hear my cry, O God. Hear my cry. Give heed to this prayer of mine. My heart is faint. Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.  O, Word of God!

  1. "Hear me, my God, as I voice my complaint;
    protect my life from the threat of the enemy." (Psalm 64:1)

    I don't know why voicing my complaints to Him isn't always my Plan A. It seems that only when all else fails, I go to Him... and He graciously "Truly" listens. I don't know why He loves me so, but I'm so grateful. I love how He is such a gentleman.

    Have a good Monday, friends!

    1. Taking your hurts to Christ is a safe refuge. He does love you, Angie. So glad you're back.

  2. Today the Psalmist's words remind us w watch because of His strength, He is our stronghold and our defense. We cannot deliver ourselves but He can. He is our Salvation. Men are vain, they lie, they oppress others. His loving kindness is better than life. We may complain to one another when we should complain to Him, He alone can save.

    Please join me in praising Him and giving Him all the glory for Who He is, not what He has done for us or what He will do for us.

    I bless Your Holy Name Yaweh in the Mighty Name of Jesus.

    1. I agree, Annette. I was posting mine at the same time you were, I believe. I love to praise Him for Who He is in all His magnificent glory, not just what He does for me. But I can't help praising Him for all that He is doing, too! Is that all right to praise Him for both?

      One feels a little more mature than the other, but I feel like a little kid a lot with God. :)

  3. "But as for me, I shall sing of Your strength;
    Yes, I shall joyfully sing of Your lovingkindness in the morning,

    For You have been my stronghold
    And a refuge in the day of my distress.

    O my strength, I will sing praises to You;
    For God is my stronghold, the God who shows me lovingkindness." ~Psalm 59:16-17

    He meets us where we live. It always impresses me that Scripture each day can touch each one of us so differently, yet when I read what you all write, I feel that place of refuge that He is to you, too. The many-faceted Word of God knows us by name and meets us right where we are. No condemnation when we bring our sin, our shortcoming to Him, just a Hand Upward.

    I have been struggling with an area of discipline in my life and realized I was praying for it in my own strength--something like "help me to do better..." Turns out its one of the fruits of the Spirit that I already have since I have the Holy Spirit, so I just need obedience in that area. Everything we need is already in Him...

  4. We are His children, we are to approach Him as children, so there is nothing wrong w/ praising Him for His deeds. I am concerned I will get caught up in praising Him for His deeds and not Who He is.

  5. I weep as I read your comments while sitting in a Starbucks. Everyone on here is jovial and content on the outside. Oh!! What lurks within.

  6. Psalm 62:5-8 "My soul, wait in silence for God only,
    For my hope is from Him.
    6 He only is my rock and my salvation,
    My stronghold; I shall not be shaken.
    7 On God my salvation and my glory rest;
    The rock of my strength, my refuge is in God.
    8 Trust in Him at all times, O people;
    Pour out your heart before Him;
    God is a refuge for us. Selah.5 My soul, wait in silence for God only,
    For my hope is from Him.
    6 He only is my rock and my salvation,
    My stronghold; I shall not be shaken.
    7 On God my salvation and my glory rest;
    The rock of my strength, my refuge is in God.
    8 Trust in Him at all times, O people;
    Pour out your heart before Him;
    God is a refuge for us. Selah."

    It has been said so many times, but it is so true......"When God takes you to it, he will lead you through it."

    Praying for you, dearest Bev, and all the precious Pearls. We are seeking, reading the word, following the path He leads. God has a plan, we are such an important part of the plan. Don't despair, God is there....forever and ever amen.
