Remember me, O God,
and have compassion on me
according to the Greatness of Your Love.
Nehemiah knew in his heart that he was doing a great work for God, brick by brick, little by little. What's so beautiful about Nehemiah is that his heart was broken for the things that matter. It wasn't for himself, his own suffering. His heart broke for the people and the preservation of their holiness. Nehemiah did a great work. Yet, not too long after that, Nehemiah finds the people not taking worship seriously. Personal Gain. Personal Peace. Personal Affluence. Nehemiah was sustained by God and kept on persuading the people to repent. And, he dealt with his own heart so beautifully. "And what stirs you most deeply? Is it advancing your plan for your life or My plan for My world? Is it finding a way to get your spouse to understand how abandoned you feel or revealig the character of My Son as you deal with your troubled marriage? Is is a concern to live as comfortably as possible in the immediate mess or to live out your calling to be holy in the midst of the mess? 66LL. Remember me, this day, O God!
PRAYER FROM PSALMS:
Remember me, O Jehovah, with the Favor that You bear for Your people.
Please remember me this day, O my God!!!
Remember us each & every one who reads here.
Psalm 106:4
Nehemiah remained a man of faith seeking God and pursuing holiness. He contended for the people even if it meant pulling out hair. I think in today's culture, we can easily forget much in the Kingdom is birthed by contending and travail. May our 1st and foremost pursuit be seeking our Lord and things of the Kingdom.
ReplyDeleteI'm so taken by Nehemiah's heart. He took God's Word seriously and meticulously sought to see that His Plan was carried out. He found that even when the laws were in place, the people were self-serving and turned to their old vices. Nehemiah's heart burned for the return of God to their land. The thing is, God gave him this heart to seek Him, and he understood holiness. He heard the call and he heeded it. He wasn't all talk, but a man of action, a zealot for the things that matter in the long term--purity, holiness, humble, God-loving, God-serving people. Israel, God's Beloved, would again be right with God.
ReplyDeleteYesterday, we welcomed Riley Grace Barnes, our fourth grandchild, and second granddaughter, into the world. Mom Lindsay and baby Riley Grace are doing very well. Such a miracle, such a mind-boggling love! She was born at 4:08 p.m. and weighed 8 lbs. 7 oz. and was 21 inches long.
Congratulations to the whole family. She is a blessed young lady to be in your family. Your family is growing by leaps and bounds. Wow...know you are happy and proud..the good kind of proud.
DeleteOh my goodness! A fresh new grace of God. An unseen face. What hope. What calling. So thrilled for you and Lindsay. To be in the presence of a newborn, well, it's the Presence of a very Good God. A brand new reflection of Him. Ooooh! Congratulations from the bottom of my heart.
ReplyDeleteI just love hearing from you all every day. Your words mean much to me. Been reading C.S. Lewis a little this week. Thinking about how Christians today are content in their small sins. After all, they don't do bad things and they give and they even serve in missions. But they can snub you, distance themselves from you, talk down to you, and then be real sweet to you---they never really repent of those small sins in their eyes. O God, may we embrace this holy calling to move into our world with clean hands, holy lips, and a called mind to be the people you have made us to be.
