Perspective.
There's Reason rearing its head.
Are we leaning too hard on good minds, good reads.
They worked hard. They did what was right.
They stood together & trusted.
They only did their duty. that's how they felt about it.
They signed the covenant with white-hot hearts.
It was not about doing things right.
It was heart change.
Nehemiah 10:28
We can work ourselves dizzy trying to find what sin sits deep within even passionate hearts. Let God search our hearts. Our own pensive searches usually result in penance not repentance. Working harder, praying more, being nicer when God is calling us to change our ways. We end up being oh-so-nice while beneath that layer foams a dislike, distrust, disappointment that we don't deal with. My friend says: "Let your sin surprise you." It will happen even this day and may we have ears to hear what the Spirit is saying to each of us. Oh to live this day that we realize what we are doing wrong, not by reason but by repentance ... and may we long to just do our duty.
PRAYER FROM PSALMS
Psalm 139:23 ~
Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.
And if there be any wicked way within, You deal with me, O God!
