April 13 "Ask for that Which Lasts" I Kings 3:5

Ask Big.
Like the Cartwheels in Space.

It's just a dream. Very uncommon that God would speak in a dream. For keeps.

I Kings 3:5 ~ God appears. "Ask what I shall give you."

"I'm but a child climbing onto this throne.
I do not know how to go out or come in.

Give me wisdom, O God.
Spiritual Blessings, not the physical earthly ones.
Things that last for Eternity."
I Kings 3:12-13

And God gave what he asked...wisdom.
And God gave what he did not ask for...riches and honor.

The LORD is always doing us good.
Ask this day what He puts in your heart.
Ask big. Your God awaits.

PRAYER FROM PSALMS
Psalm 17: 3, 7
Look at the secrets of my heart, this moment, O God.
Show me that your Love is Wonderful!

  1. This is my favorite Solomon glimpse into his life...his first prayer as king.

"I don't know how to come in or go out, but You do, Lord." I saw how You loved my father, David. I saw how much his heart sought you. And now, I need that. I need an understanding heart and to be able to discern between good and evil. I can't do this but You can through me. So here I am, humble and moldable. Bless me to serve your people. Bless me.

This prayer pleased God. And He blessed Solomon in huge ways. Not about formulas here for a genie god to grant wishes, but there are some specific ingredients that please God.

There are so many components that I think are important--David's influence, Solomon's humility, what Solomon asked for (in light of what he could have asked for), God's heart toward Solomon, God's abundant answer--we can pick any one of these points and learn a great deal on how to position ourselves to rest in His abundance and peace.

May He be bigger this day than you ever imagined, than you ever dreamed. Blessings abundant on each of you!

    1. I have two prayer needs today if you feel led to pray. Our guy that works for us has a brain tumor, and he is going to Houston today for a second opinion and hopefully some help at MD Anderson. He has two boys and a wife who have been through so much the last few weeks. Please pray for healing and comfort for the family and that they will treat him there at MDA.
The other request is for Lauren, my daughter. She's been having nosebleeds and they found she has a staph infection in her nose. They are testing her next week with a CT scan to see if it is in her sinuses. Please pray that this is localized and she heals well with the antibiotic.
      Thank you, Pearls.

    2. I will pray for your helper and his family, and your daughter. I will pray they will find the problem and resolve then. I have nosebleeds occasionally. It is scary. I will pray for Lauren.

  2. Love the colors of the universe! Love your thoughts, Bev. God providing big, just ask! How often I forget, when I get overwhelmed by my needs, when I don't think anyone cares, when some days are almost too hard to get through. God never overlooks anything, from rainbow abstactions of color in the darkest space, to my thoughts, what a span! Thank you for your words and also the visual ministry. Love you!

  3. @ Annette - will be in prayer.

Solomon's prayer request touches my heart deeply. Wisdom - something that will not rust and will not become stubble. Lord, may I seek after You first and the things You esteem and not the things the world esteems.

  4. Praise! Juan was admitted to MDA today. Tonight, his wife has hope. A God thing in so many ways. At the other hospital, they told him to go home and call hospice. Who knows what will be next, but he is a pastor and is a believer. Thanks for praying!
