"May you find rest in the house of your husband." Ruth 1:9.
Both of their husbands are gone.
They stood tall and did what they had to do to make a living.
Oh, God, help us all stand tall.
Naomi's two sons and husband are now in heaven. What loss for these three women to embrace. The love of their lives. God invites them to "rest" in the midst of their tragedy. God is always beckoning us to "rest," not in our circumstances, but in Him. Isaiah 30:7 - we rest by keeping still while Egypt's help is empty. We are not empty people. When we've been depleted, our God is filling us up. Naomi and her two daughters found that kind of rest in Providence---seemingly simply story with a grand finale. Another baby was born from the descent of Ruth---and that baby in a manger changed the world.
"No matter what happens in your life, God can reach into your heart with Power to form you into someone who values God above everyone and everything else. God is determined to reverse our values." 66 LL
PRAYER FROM PSALMS
"Return to your rest, O my soul, For the LORD has dealt bountifully with us." Psalm 116:7

When you think about it there really is no way to rest in your circumstances for they can and do often change in the blink of an eye. Whereas, our faithful, eternal God Never changes and is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. What an assurance that we can always rest in Him. Not in our finances, not in family relationships, not our health, but always in Him. He is constant and consistent....Praise His Holy name.
ReplyDelete"Blessed is the Lord who has not left you without a Redeemer today." Our Redeemer comes. Behold a man on a cross who saves us.
ReplyDeleteDon't hurry through the next few days. Sunday will come and the victory will be sweet. But these next few days are appointed to remember the holy work of our Savior. Let Him feed you Living Bread, the third saving Cup of redemption, wash your weary feet, sing Psalm 100, "This is the Day that the Lord hath made..." and walk the long via dolorosa to the place of the Skull, bruised, crushed, beaten. And hang on a tree, wearing every sin, carrying it all in His broken body.
Redemption is nigh. Our Kinsman Redeemer will ransom our souls. But first...that horrific Good Friday must unfold. All for me. all for you.
Prepare our hearts, Lord, to humbly receive the Grace in these events of the coming days. Let us spend some time counting the Cost.
