Our circumstances are before each of us.
Every single day, every single moment.
"On what do you rest this trust of yours" 2 Kings 18:19
On Whom? On What, Hezekiah?
Rabshakeh's rhodomontade rhetoric is riveting.
* Your military men are no match for my multitude
* Your alliance with Egypt is no better than a bruised reed
* Your interest in God will not cut it---He is not going to deliver you
Wonder what kind of things we are being told
that matches this mantra?
*Your personna, your words are no match to others
*Your friends are of no help, little care
*Your passion for God is getting you nowhere
*You are not appreciated, applauded, esteemed or sought after.
Oh what braggadocious banter.
"They held their peace."
For Hezekiah and his men knew that
the last word had not been written and
they were being held In His Love and Care
May I, may we, hold our peace against a world
throwing words, hurling looks, conniving actions, creating distance like daggers in our hearts.
Oh, those six monosyllabic words in our reading today:
"That Christ Be Formed in Me" ~ Galatians 4:19
I just love to hear God's Word through music, especially when I'm not reading my Bible like I should be. ;) "Awake My Soul." Christ is formed in me. :)
ReplyDeleteHere's to Monday where I can re-commit again! I love our God of second, third, fourth... chances to start again.
Thanks for always being here, Pearls and especially you, Bev for never giving up!
Oh, how grateful I am that His mercies are new every morning. Here is to a new day where I can recommit my love, my life, my heart to Him. As I read Kings and it is very hard for me to do these readings, for they seem to be the same thing over and over. God would tell them how He wanted them to live and how they refused time and time again. They would get a new King and he would choose to continue to do evil or he would partially obey God, yet not take down the high places. I had to ask myself, how much am I like them? Too much I am afraid.
ReplyDeleteI do want the things that break His heart to break mine and I do want Him formed more in me, yet am I truly willing to lay myself down and allow that to happen.
I agree with Annette, Bev. Thank you for your faithfulness to share with us what He gives you, every single day, even if none of us has any response to share. You are a blessing.
I believe God has placed each of us here for each other...a tiny community of real, broken people, who love Him so! Thank you for your presence here! Means more than I can say. Just delighted Ang to see you this day. Thanks for sharing. God forces every one of us to rest every night and start over again just as the sun comes up with a brand new day, brand new slate. So very grateful!
ReplyDeleteI so need to hold my peace on a few things---would you pray for me to do just that? Thank you friends.
ReplyDeleteI prayed for you this morning as you go into these next two weeks, Bev. Some of those challenges you face will not materialize at all and some will catch you by surprise. I'm praying He is your steady stream of Light and Grace as always, and for you to have no worries as you plan and spend time with your daughter. It will all be here before you know it and you will enjoy the wedding. May His comfort be your rest even in the middle of all the rush. Love you.
