Psalm 115: 1 -3 GOD DOES AS HE PLEASES
Not for our sake, God, no, not for our sake, but for your name's sake, show your glory. Our God is in heaven doing whatever He wants to do. Their gods are metal and wood, handmade in a basement shop. A friend of mine facing one of life's cruelest chapters, his 17-year-old son's suicide, preached this verse when he stood up again. I'll remember this verse forever. Bless the small, bless the great.
Psalm 116: 1 - GOD TAKES THE HAND OF THE HELPLESS
I love God because He listened to me, listened as I begged for mercy. He listened so intently as I laid out my case before him. Death stared me in the face, hell was hard on my heels. God takes the side of the helpless; when I was at the end of my rope, he saved me.
I said to myself, "Relax and rest.
Soul, you've been rescued from death;
Eye, you've been rescued from tears
Foot, were kept from stumbling."
I'm striding in the presence of God,
Alive in the land of the living!
Something about these verses stirs up something so good in me. Rescued by a very Good God. Striding in His Presence in the humdrum and holy business of this day. Alive! And, despite a ton of bad luck! Ha.
Psalm 117: 1 - 5 GOD IS MY CHAMPION
Praise God, everybody! Applaud God, all people! His love has taken over our lives; Pushed to the wall, I called to God; from the wide open spaces, he answered. God's now at my side and I'm not afraid; who would dare lay a hand on me? God's my strong champion; "The hand of God has turned the tide!
Brings to my mind: The LORD is my Shepherd, I shall not want. So what does that mean as I read these verses about a Present God? Maybe the only thing we know will never let us go is God. Listen to my life. What do I want more than my Shepherd?
I am believing the Hand of my Good God will turn the tide for me as I walk through this week. All I can deal with is my own stuff. So grateful to Him as I am with my extended family this week and see myself so differently than ever. And I know, it's all because of God. So very grateful to Him this day for what He has done and is doing in my heart to help me listen to my life. Really good.
ReplyDeleteGod will never let go! That is my lifeline. He is my rock, my salvation, my deliverer, my shelter, strong tower.
ReplyDeleteAmen
Building up a house of cards, I realize I haven’t done one thing in the way of Kingdom living. I’m left hollow, angry defeated. But I wake up this morning, and it’s a new day! I’m so thankful for fresh starts and new beginnings.
ReplyDelete“God is higher than anything and anyone, outshining everything you can see in the skies. Who can compare with God, our God, so majestically enthroned, surveying his magnificent heavens and earth?”
“You who fear God, trust in God! Trust your Helper! Trust your Ruler!”
“Thank you for responding to me; you've truly become my salvation! The stone the masons discarded as flawed is now the capstone!
This is God's work. We rub our eyes—we can hardly believe it! This is the very day God acted— let's celebrate and be festive! Salvation now, God. Salvation now! Oh yes, God—a free and full life!”
He turns your day around as much as He turns your life in a new direction.
Deborah, bless you, sweet friend. Sending hugs and love your way. Let God carry you as He changes the tide. He is in even this.
I will try again to post, but bet you it turns up twice...argh.

Sorry I'm a space hog!
ReplyDeletePsalm 115:8
ReplyDelete"Those who make them have become just like them, have become just like the gods they trust."
I was reading this verse thinking about how this was on my mind...what do I worship as a false god in my life.
I can just visualize a special altar in my house that I set my false gods on.
I carefully place my god of "understanding" on this altar. Some things will never make sense in this life. I just have to trust God by faith.
I set down my false god of "perfection." I am not...nor will I ever be perfect in this life.
I know there are others. Like feeling unloved. God love me. I know that. And when everything stands out there in the universe, shoulder-to-shoulder to each other and to God, He is the Star. We dim in comparison.
I just bow down tonight to Him. He is my God.
Annette, thank you. Nothing about this makes sense. I just walk by faith and leave it to God.
ReplyDeleteSometimes He answers our prayers with a "No" for our good. But lots of good will come out of this. He will never waste a hurt...Beth Moore quote.
Twinkle thanks for reminding me what I have heard Beth Moore say many times,"whenever God says NO it is always for a Greater YES. Your comment spurred that thought in me. I needed that quote this evening.
ReplyDeleteThank you LORD that Your Love Never Fails and You Love Endures Forever! Yes, Lord even when I get off track you bring me back with your Amazing Love as God's Love endures Forever!
Bev, continuing to pray for you and the family as you prepare for the wedding this weekend. Praying for that amazing dress you will wear to this event to show up at just the right time. Praying for those special moments with Blair and your precious family as you stretch your boundaries of Love in this family wedding weekend.
This is a Song I must Sing.
