Psalm 106 -
He gave them exactly what they asked for—
but along with it they got an empty heart.
They traded the Glory
for a cheap piece of sculpture.
They forgot God, their very own Savior,
who turned things around in Egypt,
who gave that stunning performance at the Red Sea.
They found fault with the life they had
and turned a deaf ear to God's voice.
Over and over God rescued them, but they never learned—
until finally their sins destroyed them. Psalm 106:43
Psalm107
Oh, thank God—he's so good! His love never runs out.
All of you set free by God, tell the world!
Tell how he freed you from oppression,
Then rounded you up from all over the place,
from the four winds, from the seven seas.
God got you out in the nick of time.
He put your feet on a wonderful road
that took you straight to a good place to live.
He led you out of your dark, dark cell,
broke open the jail and led you out.
So thank God for his marvelous love,
for his miracle mercy to the children he loves;
He shattered the heavy jailhouse doors,
he snapped the prison bars like matchsticks!
Psalm 107:17
"Oh, thank God-he's so good! His love never runs out. All of you set FREE by God, tell the world! Tell how he freed you from oppression, then rounded you up from all over the place, from the four winds, from the seven seas."

Thanking Him so very much today for our freedom in Christ...for the freedom we have today to go to our places of worship. May we not take it for granted and may we pray God's mercy...Heal our land O LORD!!
Also thanking Him for rounding us up (Stringing these Pearls!) from all over the place. Y'all are so special!
If you want to be blessed, go to Scotty Smith's "Heavenward" blog and read his prayers for yesterday and today. He's the founding pastor for Christ Covenant in Nashville, Tn.
We all are clinging to HOPE so you might also like his prayer on May 21st. "Turn the rheostat of hope all the way to the right. Do laser surgery on the eyes of my heart. I would see Jesus and it will be enough."
He writes a prayer from scripture every day. Be blessed by them.
Love you,
FG
Oops...S.Smith's church is Christ Community in Franklin, Tn..
ReplyDelete"Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever." Sing it with me, girlfriends!!
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
Love,
Angie xoxo
Jan, Yesterday I thought about laser surgery, too! I think we can get a better deal if we do it together (2 for One). Haha
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the prayers by Scotty Smith, F.G. Inspiring. I put it on my save list to return.
ReplyDeleteWho do y'all listen to for sermons on the internet? I have a couple I go to and am looking for new links. Sure makes workouts go by faster!
I have gotten some great suggestions from you already. Mary Lou, I can't thank you enough for Jennifer Kennedy Dean's Bible study, "Live a Praying Life." And Bev, I wouldn't know about Matt Chandler without your mentioning him. Thank you both.
Anybody have a favorite?
Annette,

Annette, glad you enjoyed Scotty Smith. He's part of a group called the Gospel Coalition and I read their blogs sometimes...especially Ray Ortland, Jr. and Tullian Tchividjian (Billy Graham's grandson who pastors at Coral Ridge Presbyterian).
ReplyDeleteOne preacher I really enjoy is Tim Keller at Redeemer in New York City. Unfortunately, you have to order his sermons. I did find out that you can go to Tim Keller MP3 and download some of his things.
I've listened to the following:
1."The Prodigal Son - Recovering the Heart of the Christian Faith"
He preached this sermon at our church years ago and it had a great impact. It's now a book and I like it just as much, maybe more.
2."Praying Our Tears"
3."Praying Our Fears"
4."Sin As Self-Righteousness" This is on Jonah and starts slow but is really good.
His book, Counterfeit Gods, was good also. I haven't read The Reason For God yet. Melissa wrote about that on LPM and really recommended it.
Also wanted to tell you that I finally saw Lauren's wedding video and it was so touching. She looked radiant and I know your cup was running over! Thanks so much for sharing it.

Happy Happy 4th of July...it's midnight as the day closes. I've thought a whole lot today about Buechner's quote: "listen to your life" and all that means as I interact with my extended family this day. Am I really listening to the way I talk to myself and others ... what are my motives. His Word pierces the intent and thoughts of our heart and offers such hope. Happy Ending to another 4th...one more closer to Him.
ReplyDeleteTried to post from my cell as I don't have internet where I am. I could open it up but never got it to work so that's why it was blank today. sent from phone
ReplyDeletePraise God for my freedom and allowing me to be born in the United States of America.
ReplyDeletePraise God for being able to attend the worship service in my home church this fourth of July Sunday. I received an amazing message from God Most High. I must change, repent and humble myself before God for Him to heal me and then our nation. This is a call to every professing Christian in our nation.
The pagentry as the service began with the orchestra, chior, a young child portraying bearing the flag and to conclude with fireworks inside the sanctuary was amazing. Then receive the message to return to our Christian principles this nation was founded with great sacrifice by the founding fathers.
It was concluded with the entire congregation on their knees praying for our nation and led by our pastor.
I listen to my life and know even in with my issues I am more than blessed to be an American. To be free to worship as I see fit. To proclaim openly the WORD of the LORD and His dying LOVE for me.
Praise God for my precious String of Pearls who encourage me and keep me focused on Jesus and how He LOVES me and each one of us.
This is a Song I Must Sing. Sylvia
Bev,
ReplyDeletePraying that God would be I AM in every detail of your life and your family. Choose Him over every other thing.
Love you,

Set free by God!
This speaks to me. Yesterday was a difficult day for me. I set a much-needed boundary with the situation I am dealing with day-after-day. I will spare y'all the details.
I just don't ever want anyone or anything to be God in my life except I AM.
He is more than enough for me today.
It is so very hard knowing when to fight for something precious with God and when to give it completely over to God.
I turned my back on it...this thing I live with day-after-day...and I gave it up to God. No more striving. No more abiding. Speaking and declaring God is God of my life and no other.
