March 5 ... Deuteronomy 17 - 20 "Fighting to Win"
Deuteronomy 20: 1-4 "When you go to war against your enemy and see horses and chariots and soldiers far outnumbering you, do not recoil in fear of them; God , your God, who brought you up out of Egypt is with you. When the battle is about to begin, let the priest come forward and speak to the troops. He'll say, "Attention, Israel. In a few minutes you're going to do battle with your enemies. Don't waver in resolve. Don't fear. Don't hesitate. Don't panic. God , your God, is right there with you, fighting with you against your enemies, fighting to win." I needed to hear this word. Our friend Merry Nell passed away yesterday peacefully in her fight against breast cancer. She shared this verse with me one time. Something inside of me wants to panic that it could happen to me---our group leader is gone. Don't panic. God, my God is right here with me, fighting to win.

Don't panic. God, your God, is right there with you, fighting with you against your enemies, fighting to win."
ReplyDeleteI love how the same Word resonates with all of us differently. Mine is related to my job. It is not life or death. I love how His Word is a custom fit for each of us. He knows we are all in a battle of some kind, but He is the same God, our God. I find comfort in that this morning.

Love,
Angie xoxo
Bev, I forgot to tell you. I totally understand your fear and I"m praying for you, my friend!
ReplyDeleteLove you,
Angie
Understand your fears....keep your eyes on Him, don't let panic rule, let Him rule. Easier said than done and I'm not in your shoes, BUT I do know who holds your hand and has your heart and to remember that there is NO panic heaven. ( I have to remind myself sometimes) Know we are all praying for you and Jesus is interceding for you too. Love you...
ReplyDeleteBev, fear is the real enemy. I can't imagine all the emotions stirring inside of you, but God is fighting the battle. You have my prayers, too, for the sweet peace that passes all understanding and for His healing Hand touch you and make you whole.
ReplyDeleteFor me, concentration to focus on Christ is so hard when fear is in the driver's seat. And my reminder today is that it's contagious: "And is there a man here who is wavering in resolve and afraid? Let him go home right now so that he doesn't infect his fellows with his timidity and cowardly spirit." Oh flesh, when will you die? Blessed Holy Spirit, send Your Resurrection power for victory over this battle that rages within.
Mary Lou, I long for that day in heaven when no panic or fear exists.
The Peace of the Lord Christ be with you all.
Angie, I am so sorry for your job situation, and especially for that heaviness on your chest that you feel. He is our victory. He is our battle fighter. Prayers this morning for you for peace and a still place to reconcile your heart with all the changes at work. Love, A
ReplyDeleteWe read today about the cities of refuge for the manslayer. That made me think of the passage in Hebrews which reminds us that we have "fled for refuge to lay hold of the hope set before us". It goes on to say that this is a hope that is an anchor for our soul. I love that. An anchor sure and steadfast. Jesus, our city of refuge! And our hope.
ReplyDeleteI read once that this is not an anchor secured on the bottom of some ocean. It is an anchor fixed
pemanently and securely to the throne of God. Sure and steadfast.
Bev, praying for that place of refuge for you today...refuge from your fears and anchored in Him.
Though my biopsy was benign, I remember the fear. "Let God arise, let His enemies be scattered"...
Blessings,
FG
Angie, I am so there with you and others when you wrote from our scripts reading "Don't panic. God, your God, is right there with you, fighting with you against your enemies, fighting to win."
ReplyDeleteI love how the same Word resonates with all of us differently. Mine is related to a license I hold and all week I have felt the panic instead of giving it over to God. No, it is not life or death. It is that insecurity of fear seem to still hang on to. May we each open our ears and eyes to listen and know His Peace in whatever our current storm is.
My health issue improved after a doctor visit on Tuesday then by yesterday the improvement seemed to have just vanished into thin air. I was almost back where I was.
I must focus more on God and his power to provide the courage for me to do what it takes and know God will make a way to accomplish His Purpose in my life and be at Peace with that.
Bev, I don't even know how to comprehend what you deal with yet I know God is able to make a way for ....
Because He Lives.
A song I must sing.
Sylvia
My 20-month-old has been asking me to sing a song over and over and over again. It's from her mothers' day out program at church.
ReplyDeletePart of the song goes like this: "It's a happy day and things will only get better because I'm living each day by the promises in God's Word." That middle line rubs me the wrong way everytime. So not true!!!
Circumstances aren't always better. I think about all that Bev is facing on so many different fronts. Each of us have our own challenges.
I love these words from Moses about our Mighty God: "Don't fear. Don't hesitate. Don't panic. God, your God is right there with you, fighting with you against your enemies, fighting to win." What a relief to know that it doesn't all depend on me.
Each of your entries today encouraged me. I truly enjoy being on this journey with each of you.
Deut 17
ReplyDelete"he (their future king) is to study it (this revelation scroll) every day so that he may learn what it means to fear his God, living in reverent obedience"
I'm sitting here listening to Anne of Green Gables theme music and reading these words of God.
The great Psalmist, King David, was this kind of king God intended for His people. A Psalmist! Oh, but this psalmist could slay a giant when God needed him to!
I can imagine the faith this Revelation built in young David, the shepherd.
God is building our faith with these same words that built up King David. We have giants to slay, psalms to pen, and dancing in pure joy before our Lord!
Thanking God today that our battles have been won...given us by our Lion of Judah...
Be still and know that He is GOD! Our God. My God.
Bev, you are a cherished treasure. Your face glows from the holy times spent gazing into the face of God. Only someone who has been that close to pure Holiness knows just how lacking we are as clay pots.
ReplyDeleteWe are daily reminders of the frailty of life. And the loss of your mentor hurts and takes away glimpses of hope in your life.
Don't lose hope. Now abideth these three...faith...hope...and love. Abide in His Hope.
We don't know the hour of His coming. We know signs but the exact time...well, it is His to know. Not ours.
I think it will be soon. The only reason He tarries now is His longing to draw all unto Himself. He knows who are His and who are still to come to Him. And when that last one says...I believe...we will all be changed instantly and caught up to meet Him in the air.
What a day (or night) that will be!
What a song we will sing, Sylvia!
No more panic. No more fear. No more timidity or cowardly ways!
No more suffering...or tears...or death.
We will have done all of our suffering here.
Great is Thy faithfulness,
O God my Father,
There is no shadow of turning with Thee,
Thou changest not,
Thy compassions, they fail not,
As Thou hast been Thou forever wilt be.
Great is Thy faithfulness!
Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see;
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided,
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord unto me...
Siesta's,
ReplyDeleteI am amazed as I get to know you on this blog and what each of of deal with from time to time how we can draw from the heart of God in our own lives to encourage others. Thank each of you in your contribution of encouragement in my life and the life of this blog.
Ang, spoke to me at the beginning of my Day after reading Bev and the scripts and then Twinkle spoke so beautiful at the end of my day and everyone else in between was such a blessing of encouragement to me. May God bless each of you richly.
Thank you FG for that beautiful verse in Hebrews for He is our Hope, our steadfast anchor in troubled times. I have several things going on right now. And in the midst of disturbing news, He offers hope and joy. I don't understand it but it's people like you who draw out what He wants. Can you e-mail me? sixbrandons@sbcglobal.net
ReplyDeleteAng, you really have a way into our hearts to offer such compassion and kindness! Thank you my friend! Bev
ReplyDeleteMary Lou, thank you for your constant prayers. Psalm 3:3 is marked in my Bible with your name. God brought you out of the woodworks for me! Thank you friend!
ReplyDeleteAnnette, your words fall in pleasant places for me always. In a convicting way. In God-anointed moments. Psalm 81:10 you open your mouth and He fills it with Himself. Love you much, Bev
ReplyDeleteHe knows the way you take...and it's a beautiful path Sylvia! I am so impressed with the choices you make in the midst of so much. You so honor Him! Love my new friend, Bev
ReplyDeleteCici, I hear your voice talking to me throughout my day. Lots. Tonight it's saying---"purge the evil among you." I can hear you saying it. Perhaps because I know your voice best of all these blog voices, I hear your passionate inflections...smile! Loved the Claire story at M.D.O.---how true. And I want you to know I hear your voice because it's one full of faith that fans our little flames all the time. Thank you so much for your treasured contributions to these posts. When I read your comment just now, I remembered when we read Moses in Exodus 5:23 "From the moment I spoke in Your Name, things got worse." It's not the popular message, is it? And I love God's answer and here's my interpretation of it: I'm here to rescue you from your Darkness but not from your pain and problems. Love doing this with you! Love you, Bev
ReplyDeleteTwinkle, Twinkle, Your words are such a delight...giants to slay, psalms to pen, build our faith, O God! Titus 1:1 you are a servant of the Word of God for our faith and the Knowledge of the Truth that leads to godliness, changed lives! Always a joy to read your heartfelt comments that come from good places where you've wrestled and won. You are a living letter of Him! Thank you so much for what you write on our hearts. Love you my friend, Bev
ReplyDeleteHard to believe we've known each other for such a short time...seems like years.
