"If God answered all your prayers today, would it change the world or change you"?
Moses, in a pivotal moment in his life, chose a benevolent, humanitarian prayer. Not for himself. But for his world. The pious leader would no longer cross the Jordan River and enter the confines of the privileged Promised Land. Numbers 27:12-17. No, he would die on the Moabitic range of perilous mountains. All because...Moses struck the rock at Meribah and didn't treat God as holy. With humility and meekness, Moses embraced the Divine Edict and "evinced the spirit of genuine patriotism in his fervent prayers for the appointment of a worthy and competent successor." Commentary Critical and Explanatory on the Whole Bible.
I am beyond belief in reading this. Moses could walk to the tip of one of the mountain ranges and grab an eyeful of the Promised Land he couldn't enter. Did Moses live for the promise of entering the Promised Land? Or, did Moses simply profoundly live for God. What about you? What do you live for today?
