"How Solomon's Son Did Not Follow His Dad's Wise Word" Proverbs 4-6

“Take hold of my words with all your heart;
keep my commands, and you will live." Proverbs 4:4
Solomon writes not only to his one and only son but to yours, to all sons.
There have been a lot of sons who have obeyed this admonition, but not Solomon's own son, Rehoboam, and that gives much insight.  Even the wisest who have walked, fully human, birthed sons who would not follow.  Solomon does refer to his own father's teaching, known to that generation.  David taught him to cherish Wisdom in his youth, in his battle, in David's last words.
"Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it." Proverbs 4:23.
Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze directly before you." Proverbs 4:25.
Put your blinders on and walk straight.
Read the Word.
Receive the Word.
Imbibe the Word,
like the land drinking up all the oft falling rain.
