February 27 "Remember, God Carried You" Deuteronomy 1-2

"Where can we go? Our brothers have made our hearts melt in fear. They say, ‘The people are stronger and taller than we are; the cities are large, with walls up to the sky. We even saw the Anakites there.’”

Then I said to you, “Do not be terrified; do not be afraid of them. The Lord your God, who is going before you, will fight for you, as he did for you in Egypt, before your very eyes, and in the wilderness. There you saw how the Lord your God carried you, as a father carries his son, all the way you went until you reached this place.” Deuteronomy 1:28-31

The past...they saw how God carried them in Egypt
The future...they know God will be in the Promised Land
So, why did they send spies to check out the land?
It just wasn't enough for them that God went before.

"Our own plans seldom avail to good purpose; while courage in the exercise of faith, and in the path of duty, enables the believer to follow the Lord fully, to disregard all that opposes, to triumph over all opposition, and to take firm hold upon the promised blessings." Matthew Henry

I must never forget how God carried me to this very day.

  1. 32 In spite of this, you did not trust in the Lord your God, 33 who went ahead of you on your journey,

    My prayer today:
LORD, help me to trust you as you go ahead of me on my journey through this life.
