January 26 "Make Much of The Tabernacle" Exodus 25-27

Moses went up into the cloud to receive the specific instructions about building the tabernacle.  What he saw in the cloud no one knows.  He is instructed to face-to-face deliver instructions to his people.  It is a tabernacle state.  No continuing city for we are all strangers in this world.  The "church privileges are movable goods" and we are all traveling together to a better country.  We should never be fixed in this world.  The Gospel is a person not a place. The tabernacle points to Him.  Make much of the tabernacle and what we are to do in God's House (Jeremiah 11:15) and bring the offerings. Tell the Israelites and tell today's church to bring me an offering. Exodus 25:1.  Their very lives.

  1. This. Such a beautiful picture of God's tabernacle provision for us, a place where He Himself dwells. And at the center, the first thing God instructed to build was the ark of the covenant, the Mercy Seat with an atonement covering. Made with the purity of gold. Inside was the law, the tablets of stone, the standard by which we are to live and the standard by which we know we sin. On top, the pure gold covering--an atonement covering pointing directly to our Savior who shed His Blood. Pointing us to a saving relationship where He may dwell within.

What do I have to bring? So, I bring myself to the heart of the tabernacle, the Mercy Seat, so in need of the Covering. And He cleanses me, covers me, accepts my offering because of the Covering. What a sweet refuge in the tabernacle.

  2. These are the offerings you are to receive from them: gold, silver and bronze; 4 blue, purple and scarlet yarn and fine linen; goat hair; 5 ram skins dyed red and another type of durable leather[a]; acacia wood; 6 olive oil for the light; spices for the anointing oil and for the fragrant incense; 7 and onyx stones and other gems to be mounted on the ephod and breastpiece.

So many beautiful things. So many precious things. So many measurements. God is exacting in what he requires from us: only our very best.

    My prayer today:
LORD, help me to sacrifice those beautiful and precious things that are in my life to you. Help me to recognize what these are in my life. I give you You my heart.

    1. And this is precious, what you wrote.
He sees your heart and we do too.
