January 19 "Trusting Too Little" Exodus 4-6

The people did not listen to Moses because they were both discouraged and under cruel harsh labor days. They could not---would not---think beyond their very circumstances. Exodus 6:19. Do we?  All of us deal with our depravity, our carnal hearts wanting to live for something other than God.  "It is profitable to place no confidence in ourselves, all our sufficiency must be in the Lord.  We never can trust ourselves too little, or our God too much."  Matthew Henry

  1. "I am the Lord." This phrase is repeated six times in Chapter 6. God is making a point here.

11 The LORD said to him, “Who gave human beings their mouths? Who makes them deaf or mute? Who gives them sight or makes them blind? Is it not I, the LORD?

2 Pharaoh said, “Who is the Lord, that I should obey him..?"

    My prayer today:
LORD, you are the God you makes me just as I am. Help me to realize that as LORD I should obey you in all that I do, not as a servant but as a beloved daughter of yours.
