December 22 "Charge That To My Account" Philemon 1

"Religious servants are treasures in a family. Such will make conscience of their time and trusts, and manage all they can for the best." M. Henry

Onesimus, a slave of Philemon, commits a heinous theft so he runs away from his good master.  Only to run straight into the arms of Divine Providence---in the person of Paul.  Paul leads Onesimus to know Christ.  And Paul delivers Onesimus straight back to his rightful owner to make right the wrong.  With an admonition.  Treat him like a brother not a slave.  Charge whatever he owes to my account.

“Here we see how St. Paul lays himself out for poor Onesimus, and with all his means pleads his cause with his master: and so sets himself as if he were Onesimus, and had himself done wrong to Philemon. Even as Christ did for us with God the Father, thus also St. Paul does for Onesimus with Philemon… We are all His Onesimi, to my thinking.”  Martin Luther

From useless to useful.  Unprofitable to profitable.
And if in anything he owes you, charge that to my account.  Phile 1:17

COME BOLDLY:  Timeless Prayers
Dear Father, It's a Beautiful Story just like our lives.  We all have betrayed you.  Yet, you want us back.  And we cannot make it happen.  Can't pay our very debts.  And Someone stepped in to pay it for us.  For that, we speak undying gratitude this day.  Make the theme of our lives to give away this Grace we have received.  That we may say this day:  Charge that to my account.
