July 1 "The Glass of The Commandments" Obadiah 1

Somewhere in my thinking, I believe I can get away with stuff.
I mean, I don't want to.
But it comes pouring out of me, shocking me to no end.

"As you have done, it shall be done to you;
your deeds shall return on your own head."
Obadiah 1:15

One of the commentaries shared it this way:
Sin, thus looked upon in the glass of the commandment, will appear exceedingly sinful. Those will have a great deal to answer for, who are idle spectators of the troubles of their neighbors, when able to be active helpers."

The glass of the commandment.  We see through the glass to read the promptings.  And the Word sees through the glass right back at us.

COME BOLDLY:  Timeless Prayers
Dear Father, May we see sin like you do.  May we not live content in our circumstances because it is easy, comfortable.  Father, help us to lay up treasures in heaven not here.  I just went through the checkout stand of the grocery store, chocked full of celebrity magazines.  May our measure be the glass of your commandments not the looking glass of this worldly place.

  1. Mary Lou, Praying for you today as you undergo the blood work. May you see things deeply! The glass of His Word to you. I loved the other day when we read: Inquire of His Word. We are for you, dear one!

  2. "For the day of the Lord is near upon all the nations. . ." I worry about our country more and more lately. So thankful that the Supreme Court stood with supporting people's religious convictions. If it had been another denomination than Christianity, it would have been a no-brainer for the liberal minded folks. We can expect persecution in these latter days. I guess the real mystery is why I am still surprised.

    Praying for God to continue to heal your heart, Mary Lou--and whether He miraculously heals you without surgery or uses man's hand to work it, I pray for you to feel better quickly and to be fully healed. Hope your bloodwork goes well today. Hugs and love.

  3. Praying Mary Lou.

    How easy it can be to gloss over sin as society regards sin in many cases as no more than a condition or syndrome. Lord - I want to see my sin as You see it. I want to confess it and turn away from it.

    I am so very thankful for the Supreme Court decisions (I don't say that often.) Lord I ask You to mercifully show our President and members of Senate and Congress that You are holy and Your ways are holy and not to be ignored. I pray Lord our President and members of Senate and Congress who do not understand Your Word is true - come to know it is true, alive, and sharper than a 2 edged sword and either make Jesus their Lord and Savior or rededicate themselves to You. In the Mighty Name of Jesus I pray.
