Two against a million. Moses! Aaron! How did you know so deep in your heart that it was God Who had brought you to this place. And the other million didn't know: "Why have you, Moses, brought the assembly of the LORD into this wilderness that we should die here, both we and our cattle." It's no place for anyone to live!
So, what does Moses and Aaron do? They fall on their faces before God.
When the multitudes are against us, may we find Your Presence our home.
COME BOLDLY: Timeless Prayers
O God, may we turn to you in trouble and not to people. May Your Presence be all we need.
PHOTO: The view outside my classroom window this dreary day. We all face wilderness wanderings. How did Moses and Aaron push through and a million other people did not? What were Moses and Aaron so convinced of? This I know, they knew that they were thoroughly loved by God so they didn't need a million voices to approve of what they were doing.

2 put down a rebellion while on their faces before God, imagine what can happen when 2 or 3 are gathered in Jesus' Holy Name!
ReplyDeleteAaron dies and the people mourn. I hope we all appreciate the service our clergy give to the Lord and His people.
Uh oh!
ReplyDeleteMoses strikes the rock at Meribah. One move that will cost him what he certainly had seen as his life's purpose to lead the Israelites into the Promised Land. But this was not to be. Did Moses complain or become paralyzed or bitter or resentful? It doesn't appear to be so. He finishes his life work. Disappointed? Certainly. But he continued to prepare the next generation of leadership.
Moses was quite a man. He lost his cool. And it had serious consequences. Yet he knew one failure was not the end. He would still know God's graciousness in the land of the living!
Maybe our lives haven't been quite the way we thought they would be. Nevertheless, we have a God-given life purpose to complete. It is our job to finish well. He will graciously provide in the land of the living!
Love you ladies. Happy Monday!
First Annette - Love it when you said: 2 put down a rebellion while on their faces before God. Imagine that. And then I loved what you said about Aaron being a minister of the Gospel. A father who lost both of his very own sons to rebellion. And then, his own unbelief. Yet, he moves forward to trust God in his wilderness. Loved what you said.
ReplyDeleteSecond Annette - Love what you said! Aaron and Moses are such encouragement to me because the center of their life was God and not the Promised Land. They lived for His Presence not for the Promised Land. What people thought about them did not grip them; did not paralyze them; did not deter them. They both found such a beautiful trust in the wilderness, the only life they knew----wilderness with their Father.
ReplyDeleteAmen. They lived for His Presence, not the earthly goal. Oh, that I would be so wise.
