Exodus 14:14 - "The LORD will fight for you, and you have only to be silent." And Moses, why do you cry to me for a million of your people with 600 Egyptian chariots on their heels?
Hold your peace, Moses. Hold your peace, Bev. Divide the sea. Divide your day. Lift up your staff. Lift up your head. Walk on the ocean floor. Walk where you have never gone before. Exodus 14:22. This work is not dependent on you. It's not working side-by-side with your work. It is fully God. "It is our wisdom to keep our spirits calm, quiet, and sedate, for then we are in the best frame both to do our own work, and to consider the work of God." John Wesley.
COME BOLDLY: Timeless Prayers.
God, You are always at work. Here. It is the morning watch. Yesterday's reading. It was the evening watch. Sovereign Still. Hold my peace.
PHOTO: Reflections at Walden's Pond. How do we keep silent, still, with 600 chariots raging at our backs. Spent the weekend lingering in this exodus. In my own life.

ReplyDeleteI'm holding on to this verse today as I need His hand in my own little miracle. It's not life or death, but it feels pretty huge to me now. Bev, I like to write what lingers for me first so I don't get distracted by what others write, but I just glanced above and it's exactly the verse you chose today as well. Wow!
Have a good day, girls.
Peace,
Angie

DeleteGod's people walked through their Red Sea at night. I never really saw that before. I am always blown away and blessed when, even after reading the same scripture before, that I see something entirely new.Oh, what a blessing the Holy Spirit is. They walked through on dry land all through the night. At the last watch the LORD looked down and threw the Egyptian army into confusion. The Egyptians recognized that it was the LORD God who was at work and fighting for the Hebrews. At daybreak....at dawn, the LORD had Moses hold up his staff again and the waters came back down on the Egyptians. I have always heard the saying that it is always the darkest right before the dawn.......when I read these words this morning, what light was shed on my thinking. God fought for them all night when it was so dark and when day light came, He finished off their enemy. He will do the same for me....He will and does fight for me n the dark places of my life and sees me through to the other side and His light is waiting for me on the other side of the darkness. What a blessed thought to carry me when I come to the next Red Sea in my life. He is faithful.
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful and comforting message, Mary Lou. I'm taking that with me for faith fuel. He will fight for us
DeleteWho is like you, O Lord, among the gods? Who is like you, majestic in holiness, awesome in glorious deeds, doing wonders?\
ReplyDeleteLord, I pray I always remember just as You delivered the Israelites from Egypt, You have delivered me. I want to keep my eyes focused on You and never look back to Egypt.
