December 17 "Mollify Me" Philemon 1:25

Mollify me, O God.
Those others who have wronged me,
Multiply Grace in me ~ sweeten, deepen, freedom.
Titus 1:1 ~ How beautiful that Paul humbles himself and names his calling to be a servant of God, servant of the Word. For the faith of God's people. For the knowledge of the truth that changes lives. Paul held a great authority among the followers yet he bowed low. All about godliness. In Paul, in you, in me. Not about positions and ministry success and church plants and numbers. All about the hope of eternal life in Paul, in you, in me. Servants of the Word of God.

"May the Grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you." This is how Paul opens and closes his letter to Philemon, who has been robbed and wronged by his slave, Onesimus. Oh, listen well my friends, listen well my very soul. The word translated grace means for a specific person. Philemon. You. Me. Grace upon Grace. Especially for you. Philemon 1:25 ~ "The Grace of the Lord be with your spirit." Oh, how we need God's Grace to look at life like God does when our family, our friends and their sins bump up right against us. Matthew Henry wrote that this Grace does three things: Sweetens my life and calms me down from what upsets me so; Takes off deep and keen resentments of injuries; Disposes you and me to forgive as God has forgiven us. Mollify me, O Infinite Goodness, may God's Grace calm this meloncholy heart of mine.

PRAYER FROM PSALMS
May your tender mercies be over all our works ~ Psalm 145:9. God's Grace!

  1. Such a good word, Bev, for whatever we face. Specific grace granted for this very hour, and, miraculously, the next. His mercies fall new this morning. . .for the people we need to forgive, for the situations where we think we can't face, for the heartache and disappointments to dissolve into calmed hearts.

The Christmas message is a mighty word of Hope in a darkened wintery world. It still warms my heart that this One Piece of Good News is what can make each day go well for us, as we live in a state of hope and anticipation, knowing the present trouble is nothing compared to the future. "For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all men, instructing us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live sensibly, righteously and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus." Titus 2:11-14

Praying for you, Bev. Please keep us updated. Will you have surgery Thursday? May His Grace fill your heart each moment in the coming days and the Healer touch you in miraculous ways.

  2. Bev, please please keep us updated. Had no idea you were looking at surgery this week. The sermon I heard on Sunday was on God With Us Immanuel....some of the verses he used, jumped off the page and said "these are for the ladies you are praying for...your A, B;s C....Alice, Bev, Betty and Connie....the verses were Deut. 33:27...underneath are the everlasting arms; could put vs 26 with it... then Isa. 52:12b...for the Lord your God has gone before you and He will be your rear guard; Isa 41:10 I AM with you, I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, surely I will uphold you by My righteous right hand. I have been praying these verses for the four ladies since Sunday. I wrote the parts that spoke to me....but the entire verse is for each one of them, or so He said to my heart. It ALL is grace upon grace upon grace for each one of us no matter what the circumstances surrounding us, and most especially for these ladies who are facing such giants in their lives. Love you dear Bev.....please keep us informed one way or the other....
