Rom 13:8 and Isa 66:2 "This is the One to Whom I Look" (October 5)

Do people really live by the law of love?  I know that we will not be best of friends with everyone we know but I wonder why I feel like people are not "present" at times.  Anytime I speak with anyone, and I am not "present," I violate that law of love.  Distance.  Disdain.  Haughtiness.  Hubris.  It's all a violation of love.  Romans 13:8 Owe no man anything except to love him.  I wonder what it looks like to really be "present" and love someone:
This.
This is the One to Whom I will Look:
He who is
HUMBLE
CONTRITE IN SPIRIT and
TREMBLES AT MY WORD
Isaiah 66:2

  1. The debt of love

"Owe no one anything, except to love each other, for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law."

Is it really that simple? Simple but not easy, I'd say. Love better, love more, sacrificially. That is the debt we owe to God, to each other.

What it looks like, Bev, I couldn't say, but I know it when I see it in another. So...like Christ. So right.

Help us love, Lord. Selfishness sink low and be swallowed by a softened heart, tendered to Your ways, Lord. Reign in us, and by Your Presence, may Your Love exude from our hearts. Amen.

  2. It really is that simple, but I keep sinning over and over again. Too often I am guilty of not being present... of not listening... of not having eye contact with someone closest to me, being distracted. I'm going to really try to be intentional about being fully present this weekend. Thank you!

I love getting convicted when I need it most!
    xoxo
