Jer 1:11 "God is Watching Over His Word" (October 17)

What do we do when we forget to include the LORD in our life?
Oh, the way that I asked the question sends shivers.
Oh, the arrogance that we are not even thinking of Him but ourselves.
The hubris that drives us to actions without His Heart stamped on them.

The God Who thought about us before we were even born
says in Jer 2:13 ~~
"My people have committed two evils:

they have forsaken Me,
The Fountain of Living Waters,
and hewed out Cisterns for themselves,
Broken Cisterns that can Hold No Water.

What good is it to go drink when your Cistern is broken? We have the Fountain of Living Waters and We turn to what cannot quench our thirst. Re-turn. God is Watching Over His Word to perform it in me and you. Jer 1:11

And, just yesterday, we read in Habakkuk:
Never let your struggle with how you experience God or
with how God operates in your life
keep you from *waiting* for God to deliver what He has promised.
He is Watching Over that Promise.

  1. You are so right, Bev. I make plans and try to fend for myself and there is such arrogance in that. Such defiance. Even as we know how much superior His Way is to our own.

He's right there from before we were born, and as Paul proclaimed, I too, can say with all confidence, Thus far has He helped me, or as Paul told Festus:

"To this day I have had the help that comes from God, "

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,
    and before you were born I consecrated you;

  2. You know, Annette, if what Crabb says is true, that underneath every conversation lies our fallen or redemptive nature, I experience lots of people not really taking a look at how they come across---arrogant, demeaning, sarcastic, know-it-all, or even what looks really good like syrupy sweet or fill-in-the-blank. All I can do is deal with my own stuff and there is plenty to deal with. But, I am rather astonished how few people know how they come across. And then, there are those who know how they come across and don't think it is wrong. I'm just flabbergasted today in my world.

  3. I just can't stop thinking about the words: deeper repentance.

  4. I know. Wondering what deeper repentance would like in my life. To grieve over sin and count the cost. I don't want to ever take Jesus for granted yet I am certain I do. There would be more tears of gratitude in this heart if that were so.

Its a long journey we are on. Others most surely disappoint us and Crabbs words are true. Our words either bring life or death. breathe into us, Holy Spirit and bring words of life to our lips!
