Northeasters!
They happen to all of us.
Shipwrecked in our souls.
No food to satisfy our hunger.
No safety net underneath.
No setting suns.
No waxing moons.
Paul was struck and stuck in the middle of a tempestuous storm.
They even had to throw all of their food and tackle overboard.
Violently tossed on sky-high waves by hurricane winds.
"All hope of being saved was abandoned." Acts 27:20
Have I abandoned hope in my circumstances?
I thought you would call Him, "My Father" Jer 3:19
Yet, I cannot see through my wind and my waves.
"Take Heart, men,
for I have faith in God that it will be exactly
as I have been told." Acts 27:25
Remember, He is watching over His Word to perform it.
Seems like I need to hear things again and again.
You are *waiting* for God to move.
Acknowledge your guilt...
Those favors that you have scattered.
Those times you haven't obeyed His Voice.
Jer 3:13
Wash your heart from evil
"Return, faithless Israel,’ declares the Lord,
ReplyDelete‘I will frown on you no longer,
for I am faithful,’ declares the Lord"
Return, faithless Annette. Your God is faithful. He will supply the faith you need. He alone. Return. Call Him Father. He will be faithful.
"So keep up your courage, men, for I have faith in God that it will happen just as he told me."
What is He saying to me this morning? Tossed in the storm of life, He grounds us with words of reassurance, with Words of life: Return. Be courageous. I will direct you in the way you should go.
I live, in a very rugged place, the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. I live on the southeast side of a big, shallow lake. I look out my window each day and see the force of nature. When the wind blows and the whitecaps roll, I know how Paul felt. Tossed in the storm, there is no escape. I can imagine how they felt, after 14 days; wet, cold, dead-tired and hungry. Yet Paul calmly trusted in his Lord. The same God who caused the storm will also bring amazing peace, still waters and sunny days.
