Read with me cover-to-cover in 2025. Start the Old & New Testaments together on January 1. About 3 chapters per day. About 15 minutes of your day. Join us as the axe of Biblical Love thaws the frozen parts (66LL) in our hearts. My focus in 2025 is counseling yourself from the Word. We average 60,000 thoughts per day. Take courage. Talk to yourself from Truth. I am more emotional and pensive and overly-sensitive than most. I need to know how to truly live.

Heb 5:15 "Constant Practice to Distinguish Evil from Good" (October 29, 2012)
Jeremiah writes to his people: Listen to your God. Listen to those people He sends to you. He wanted them to find "powers of discernment trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil." Maturity. Heb 5:15 It's a malady, a misfortune, a menace to many Christians today---they won't take a deep look inside. They won't let their sin surprise them this day. A friend said to me today: I think it's overanalyzing what we are doing to look too deep within. Oh my! Oh my! It's Grace when God speaks about our actions/thoughts and we discern our own intentions. What do we do with our anger? What do we do with our jealousy? Who gets it? Do we shove it down cause it's not supposed to be? Let today be a "constant practice" distinguishing good from evil." Evil disguises itself as an angel of light. Not so!
Listen to God.
And things will happen!
God says through Jeremiah:
"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord,
Plans for welfare & not for evil,
To give you a future and a hope.
Then you will call upon me and
Come and pray to me, and I will hear you.
You will seek me and find me,
when you seek me with all your heart.
Jer 29:11-12

How we need to be discerning in this day and time. There are way too many people being deceived from their preachers and then those who listen to just anyone. Then to us, who will not listen to God and what He says in His Word. May we all be discerning as to what is going on around us and within us. He does have a plan and a future and a hope for us, but we can not hold on to false hope that this means that everything will be smooth sailing etc every single day in all things. We do need to seek Him every day in all things and see what He has to tell us about Him and about ourselves. He has shown me some sins lately that I had not realized were sins before. Ouch...what a loving and gracious God we have. It truly is ALL grace and is it so amazing.
ReplyDeleteJeremiah 29:11 is an oft quoted verse, but what follows holds the keys to true peace.
ReplyDeleteCALL on me
COME
PRAY to Me.
SEEK ME with ALL of your heart
And you will FIND Me.
Prayer and putting trust in our good God Who has our future held safely in His Hands. . .
And CONSTANT practice discerning good from evil--give us discernment and wisdom to look with eyes wide open to see and steer away from the evil that lurks and deceives us.
