An umpire.
A hunger.
A paycheck.
Col 3:15 ~ The word "rule" in the Greek means to umpire. It's the Holy Spirit that we must allow to call the shots in our lives and in our families. Not me. Let Him rule your peace.
Col 3:16 ~ Let the Word dwell in you like filling a deep hunger. Let it dwell.
Col 3:23 ~ God signs your paychecks not your employer. Whatever beef you have with them, take it up with Him. God is the one for Whom we work heartily.
Your words haunt me, as I read them over again, they fill my spirit.... "Let the Word dwell in you like filling a deep hunger."
ReplyDeleteI need His word to be in my heart and in my head. I want it to dwell in me so completely that I am filled and overflow with it.
The Message...Col 3:15-17: "Let the peace of Christ keep you in tune with each other, in step with each other. None of this going off and doing your own thing. And cultivate thankfulness. Let the Word of Christ—the Message—have the run of the house. Give it plenty of room in your lives. Instruct and direct one another using good common sense. And sing, sing your hearts out to God! Let every detail in your lives—words, actions, whatever—be done in the name of the Master, Jesus, thanking God the Father every step of the way."
Broken Pottery Bound with Love
ReplyDeletePutting our Jeremiah verses together with the Colossian word, we have the Potter at work in our broken lives. He breaks us down to bring us Up.
Or as Patsy Clairmont says, "God uses cracked pots!"
We're all a mess. If we haven't devastated our lives by our own sin, we probably haven't lived very long. But the more we submit to the Potter's Hand and allow Him to shape us, the more we live in His peace, in His Ways, under His Will.
"Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.
And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity."
Put on love. Let love have its healing way in us, Lord. Bind us up. Sweep up the shards of brokenness. Mold us into Your Image.
Ladies, I am so blessed that your words instruct, direct, convict, and encourage me!
