Isaiah 42:17 "Stir Up Zeal" (September 26)

Paul opens Chapter 7 talking about marriage to personify the illustration that we were once married to the law.  We are free from the law because Christ died for us.  Under grace, oh wretched men that we are!  Thanks be to our God!

God says:
I have called from your farthest corners, saying~
You are my servant,
I have chosen you,
Fear not,
I am with you,
Be not dismayed,
For I am your God.
I will strengthen you,
I will help you,
I will uphold you
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Isaiah 41:9

There is not one of us who can pull off life without Him.
You are chosen.
God delights in your soul.
His Spirit is on you.
A bruised reed He will not break,
A faintly burning wick, He will not extinguish.
Isaiah 42:3
I have called you in righteousness.
I will take you by the hand and keep you,
I will give you to people
To open blind eyes
To bring out prisoners from dungeons
To bring out those who sit in darkness
Isaiah 42:6

New things I NOW declare
Isaiah 42:9
Sing to the LORD a New Song
Stir up Zeal in our hearts, O God.
Turn our darkness into light!
Isaiah 42:17

  1. How reassuring in these uncertain times, to know that God has called us to be His chosen servants.
    He is always with us.
I draw comfort and strength from His promises.

We are going through a deep valley right now. We trusting that God will deliver us, and keep us strong. We trust Him, we love Him, and are holding to His promises. Please keep Mike and me in your prayers.

  2. A new song

    Chosen..Lavished upon by His Spirit...Upheld...

    Fear not! You're not alone...

I am the Lord. That is my name, yielding my glory to no other!

So thankful that Paul shared his own sin war within:
For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate. . .For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh. For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out. For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I keep on doing.

(Romans 7:21 -25). . .when I want to do right, evil lies close at hand. . .I delight in the law of God, in my inner being,...but I see in my members another law waging war against the law of my mind and making me captive to the law of sin that dwells in my members. . .Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord!

Deliverance is my new song for this day...

A new chance...a do over...are we still breathing? He's watching our hearts.

Delighting in the Law, our body members still sin against us. But what is the state of our heart? That's what He's looking for in men and women.

Jan, I'm saying prayers for you and Mike this moment. May His abiding peace rule in your hearts, my friend.
