Are we boasting about our weaknesses? Not in this celebrity society.
It's lockdown on weaknesses---Boast those strengths.
Paul said it: I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses
so that the Power of Christ may rest upon me.
Look what we are missing by hiding?
Are we content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities? I have 4 of the 5 categories going on in my life---big-time! My diction doesn't choose the word "content." Oh, God, turn us all upside down, right side up.
For when I am weak, THEN I am strong! 2 Cor 11:10
I am rather weak at the moment, hardly-can-walk kind of weak.
I am strong!
I will most gladly spend
and be spent
for your
souls. 2Cor 12:15
If I love you more,
Am I to be loved less?
Spent!
I will not be a burden, for I seek not what is yours but you. For children are not obligated to save up for their parents, but parents for their children. I will most gladly spend and be spent for your souls. If I love you more, am I to be loved less?
Anybody weary? Paul sounds tired. Almost babbling, he speaks of the thorn in his side that no doubt troubled him, he worries he might be humbled by God before the people of Corinth, and he's pretty sure from what he's heard, that they won't like him in person when he comes to them, and he won't like what he sees. But he still wants their souls for the Lord.
ReplyDeleteHe says he's seen some amazing things of God and knows someone who's seen the third heaven and knows unspeakable things he could not have known. And he comes right out and says, I could be proud and boast of all the miracles, all the deliverances, all the Divine that he's been part of, but he'd rather talk about his weakness, ways he comes up short, so that God may be magnified more, showing His strength through an humble man.
So like our God. Remember Gideon. .."Your army's too big, Gideon, for Me to use...tell the ones who are afraid to go home, now do it again..."
When we are weak, we are strong in Him. To God be all the glory!
"...I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong."
ReplyDeleteKeeping it real this morning... I can't say I am at a place where I "delight" in the difficult times. For some reason when I look back at them I can give God the Glory, but whew... when I'm smack dab in the middle it is extremely difficult! That's when I try everything I have in me to work it out. That's also when I tend to isolate and go inside to do the work. I needed to hear this today! ;)
I hear your hearts ladies. It is an easy thing to read, say, but hard to put into action/practice when in the center of it. But God is always faithful, even if it is second by second!
