We are known to a few people in life.
That is, for as much as we have opened our hearts to let them in.
Even our husbands, wives, children.
We may be enmeshed but not engaged in a relationship.
We are known to the God Who is the Author of our lives.
Whether we want to be or not.
We are known to our own conscience.
But, we can still live in denial of what
We are really doing and
What it takes to get out of that place.
It is all about what is going on inside our hearts
not what is happening with outward circumstances.
It's not what is happening "to" us but "in" us that matters.
We cannot hide from God but
we can hide from ourselves---or so we think we can.
Make it your own ambition to please Him. II Cor 5:9.
Be of Good Courage.
Let the Love of Christ control you. II Cor 5:14
No matter what the inevitable circumstances are!
How can we, O King over all,
make our Ambition this day
be about pleasing You rather than
about consulting You
As I observe the events, drama and circumstances surrounding my son and then the ripple affect on me. I can so clearly see that all of it is about what God is doing to us on the inside that is important. Watching God draw someone close and to also see it in your own life is a beautiful gift from God. It is a gift to learn from your adult children. Striving to let the love of Christ control me and see things with an eye to eternal growth and not that it is all about the nasty now and now....but about what He is making of us. It really is not the circumstances of our life, the journey is part of it, but the final destination is the goal. Trying to live for Him is definitely a mind, soul stretching event. It is truly ALL about Him and what brings Him glory, not our puny desires for comfort here and now.
ReplyDeleteAmen to both of you, Bev and Mary Lou. Wished I had read this and applied it yesterday. I might add, it's also not what we think others should do for their own comfort here either.
ReplyDeleteWhen our focus is on pleasing God, the paradigm shifts from a self focus to a vertical God focus. So hard to apply, but not in our strength, so Lord, we need You.
Like the old song says, "...every Hour I Need Thee. Oh bless me now my Savior, I come to Thee."
