II Cor 4:18 "Eternal Weight of Glory" (August 29)

Oh for Eyes to see this very day Things that are Unseen.
My eyes are cast on my momentary afflictions and
I don't want to live in that place.
How to move from what I see to what I don't.
These living words do not match up with this life I live.
Therefore, I must change

AFFLICTED in every way, not crushed
PERPLEXED, not driven to despair
PERSECUTED, not forsaken
STRUCK DOWN, not destroyed. II Cor 4:8
So we do not lose heart.
Though our outer self is wasting away,
our inner self is being renewed day by day.
For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us
An Eternal Weight of Glory beyond all comparison,
as we look not to the things that are seen
but to the things that are Unseen. II Cor 4:16-18.

With tears streaming down,
I'm on my face asking our God
Who is always doing us good
to meet me on Wednesday in
My Momentary Affliction.
I need eyes open to see the Unseen, and you?

  1. It's amazing how "momentary afflictions" can affect our whole lives... if we let them. Satan is laughing at me now as I recall an almost two hour conversation I had just yesterday about something that happened over 25 years ago. I'm glad I know that I know that I know (and believe) that God is so much bigger.

"For it is all for your sake, so that as grace extends to more and more people it may increase thanksgiving, to the glory of God."

I'm one of the "more and more people" thankful that I am Blessed by having a friend who thoroughly understands God's Word and the meaning of true forgiveness, even though she suffered miserably. Satan, stay the you know what away from my dear, dear friend... and me!

Bev, I don't know what is going on for you today, but God does. I'll pray that Satan stays far from you regarding every part of it!

  2. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.

These two verses are often my perspective check. Momentary Affliction - 1
Eternal Weight of Glory - 100

Praying for you, Bev, this morning for relief, and for the suffering to produce its eternal glory.

And oh for eyes to see what God sees. Let us move toward Him this day and pray for eyes that see through His eternal perspective.

  3. 2 Corinthians 5:7-9 "But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us. 8 We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; 9 persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed"

Pearls, we are precious because we carry a priceless treasure inside our hearts.

    Love and be loved.

    Love and be loved

    Love and be loved.

  4. Bev, grab the power of the Holy spirit today, hold on tight, God is using you in a mighty way.
Ang, your honesty is amazing and so pure. God is using you, molding and shaping your life for His Glory.

Dear Annette, you put into words powerful thoughts which make me think, as I try harder to be the woman He has planned for me to be.

God is at work in all of our lives, He is all-knowing, all-powerful and our Rock.

  5. Lord, continue take my eyes off of me and my circumstances and help me to focus on all that You are and see with Your eyes. May others see Your light shine within me. I'm trading my sorrows, trading my shame, I'm trading them all for the joy of the Lord!

  6. Well, I just had a post written and blogger kicked me out....I will write only that all of you blessed me with your words.

I thought of that song, too Nise' when I read our scripture today. I've always loved it. I see this being lived out in my son's life today. Attempting to encourage him to hold on to God and see things with God's perspective. Hard when you are really young.
