Psalm 9:9/ Psalm 11:4/ John 8 "God Stoops Down to Me" May 22)

I wonder if Jesus stooped down to write in the sand for me, a sin-sick-soul "curved in on myself."  Whatever he wrote, caused the elderly to leave first.  They understood his mantra.  They got it.  God still stoops from heaven into our daily lives to forgive and blanket us with grace.

“Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her.” John 8

Why do I so quickly want to roll my eyes?  distance my heart?  put up a wall?  justify my actions?  prove my point?  throw a pebble?

The God of transcendent Beauty stoops down to me this day because "His Eyes see."  Psalm 11:4  The God of the Vast Universe lowers Himself down, lowers His Eyes.  He is my Stronghold in this time of trouble. Psalm 9:9.

  1. Psalm 9:9 - The LORD is a stronghold in time of trouble. I do not have to worry about losing my grip in trouble as He has me in His grip that never loosens!

  3. Let him who is without sin cast the first stone..and they went away one by one starting with the older ones..."

I was a self righteous one in my youth, still have to stop myself from thinking too black and white in judgment, but as I grow older, I soften a bit around the edges, and know I want mercy not judgment. My own sin is ever before me, and that should keep me pretty busy going to the Throne to ask forgiveness and turning from the sin toward God.

The older dropped their stones first. Wisdom brings a little clarity in our own sin-sick souls. We need forgiveness so we forgive. We need mercy so we become more compassionate. Lord help our self-righteousness to soften to humble hearts that recognize our own wretchedness.

His mighty Grip upholds, Nise', -comforting words to treasure this day. Thank you, Bev, for your faithfulness here. You bless me daily!

  4. Having to watch my judgment and thinking in something that is going on in the lives of some close to me. So easy to judge and not extend mercy and forgiveness to the one who is being manipulated and has done some actions that have serious ramifications. Have to remember how much He forgives me and how much mercy He extends to me on a daily basis and doesn't just wipe me off the face of the earth because of some of my sin. May I always remember to temper things with mercy and compassion and forgiveness. I do want to be discerning and call sin, sin and pray for those who have fallen into some deep pits.
