Deut 1:30 and Luke 2:7 "No Room in the Inn" (March 23)

Sometimes I wonder if I belong on Mars.  I think so upside down these days.  It's not about who is right, who is wrong. Not about the pro-Calvinists, the diehard Charasmatics, the  For me, life is all about who is experiencing the Presence and Rest and Beauty of God?

Simply amazing to think that there was "no room in the inn" for a pregnant mom to deliver the Savior of the world.  Luke 2:7.  It so shows what God values that he planned the birth of low estate.

Moses recounts the Goodness of God.  It is our Lord God who goes before us in all our wilderness experiences.  It is He Who will himself fight for you, just as he did for you in Egypt before your eyes,  and in the wilderness, where you have seen how the Lord your God carried you, as a man carries his son, all the way that you went until you came to this place. Deut 1:30.  So, am I at the place God wants me to be?  Am I willing to move on with the light that I have?

God will take care of us but it actually may look like a distorted picture of what I hoped for.  Oh, but arriving at His Place, there is room in the inn.  It's a place of rest like we've never known before.

  1. It truly is about the One who has gone before us and prepared a way for us...who has prepared a place for us. There will be room in the Inn for us, because He has gone ahead of us. He will fight our fights for us and we can rest in Him, it is our choice. We are the ones who struggle and fight and strive to make things be our way or turn out the way we think is right. Listening to younger ones talk and beat each other up instead of looking to the One who holds all of the answers and loves them so and wants the very best for them and they believe they have to be in control and make it right. He is the One who makes it right.Praise God, I choose the One who has gone before me and holds me by His hand and does what is best for me, no matter what I think. What peace there is, in trusting the One who holds everything in His hands.

  2. Love your painted pictures of rest at the inn, Bev and Mary Lou. Beautiful place of refuge to be still in His peace, isn't it!

And it surely doesn't look like what we think it will. I was talking with a good friend and she is very distraught over her son's choice in a girlfriend, one he's living with, etc. I thought she was more upset about the "image" it projected. I immediately went to the places of disappointment in my own family's choices and how God made those things beautiful. Saturday evening, with my son in law working on a presentation at our kitchen table (who is only 4 years younger than I) and sitting with a new baby only 6 months after my son married, my own son's flesh from his flesh, I thought how happy I was and how different it looked than what I thought it "should" look like. Yet, our hearts are all bigger because of those very issues. Love abounds.

Making room in the inn of our hearts to receive Him, is often receiving the rejected, the offensive, the lowly into our hearts and finding Him right in the center of the whole deal! Love truly prevails. The Christ Child is born in our hearts to love and to grow us in His very Likeness.

  3. I think we are all finding places in our heart that have not yet been redeemed...places that need to grow in love...and we are moving to love those who have delayed / defrauded / distanced / disappointed / yes, we are looking into our own hearts first where we have delayed / defrauded / distanced / disappointed ... and dealing with our own issues then moving to love, to be controlled by the Love of our LORD, 2 Cor 5:17
