Job 30:17 and Matt 13:15 "This Present Hour" (January 19)

Maybe the best thing we can do on our weary, well-worn,weighted journey
is to put our hand over our mouth and stop talking long enough to really hear.

The disciples ask: Why does God speak in parables? Matt 13:10
And Job asks:  Just where is Wisdom? Job 28:1

Close your eyes. Close your ears.
And your heart grows dull.
Do you understand what you hear
Do you see yet never grow full.
                                        Matt 13:15

Job walks by ten graves
And longs for prime days of old
When he lived like a king among slaves
When the aged stood & tongues stuck cold
                                    Job 30: 1, 17

Either we live in the past or the Present or the future.
The enemy of our soul hopes the choice is the past or the future.

In the whole of world history,
there is always only one really significant hour,
     the Present.                     Dietrich Bonhoeffer

  1. The enemy wants us to focus on the past or the future, because we can/will worry more about them than we will the present. We fret over what happened in the past and nurture grudges and we wring our hands over what "might"happen in the future. If we do those things then the enemy has us distracted and we can't be about our Father's business which He puts before us daily. I say all of this with the hindsight of the way I've lived in the past.

Today is called the present, because that is what it is, a present. We do not need to waste it in any way.

Blessings to all and on all.

  2. Thank you so much for your prayers, yesterday for Bella and her parents. All are doing well. I didn't post a FB picture because I didn't want to usurp the parents' right to share first. Here is a site for a few photos of our new baby girl-Isabella Marie, 9 lbs. 13 oz. born at 7:34 a.m. yesterday the 18th January 2012. She is doing well as are mom and dad.

  3. Congratulations Annette on your new baby granddaughter. How surreal to watch your own baby boy become a dad. May God's Grace be all over their new fresh Image of God!
