Gen 4:7 and Matt 2:2 "The Morning Star" (January 2)

The LORD said to Cain in Gen 4:6,
“Why are you angry, and why has your face fallen?"

Socrates once said that "the unexamined life is simply not worth living."

Do I allow my God to shine His Light in my darkness?
Why am I so angry? Why am I so jealous?
Why is my face fallen, my heart limp?

"If you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door.
Its desire is for you, but you must rule over it.” Gen 4:7

God doesn't intend for me to go on a witchhunt after my sin.
Hebrews 4 says: His Word divides and discerns the intentions of my heart.

The Wise Men in Matt 2:2 knew in their hearts
A King was born for their darkness.

His Star was in the sky shining the path straight to Him.
This Wondrous Babe will reveal the thoughts of our hearts.
Thank you God for Hope for our sin.
And thank you for placing Good deep within us, good intentions
to seek you, The Morning Star, with all of our hearts.

  1. On my way back to Austin from Dallas. Quick trip to Dallas to deliver Britt to board his plane for Bolivia---would you be so kind to pray for his mission trip with Pine Cove? My apologies for getting this post up so late...spent hours last night trying to get internet to work. Stopped at 5 coffee shops this morning before I could find one where Wi-Fi worked...yeah Starbucks. Some days, things are just harder to get done than others. These past 2 days of 2012 have been that for me. All we can do is hold fast to Him and what matters. Love you guys. This has been a very tough weekend for me---appreciate your prayers. My Love! And welcome welcome welcome to those of you who are new and reading with those of us who are wandering pilgrims, broken and beautiful, humbled before a very Good God!

  2. Reading today's scripture gave me new insights today, in regard to Cain. He had a choice in giving God the required sacrifice, when he failed, God gave him the opportunity to do the right thing, and instead of making things right, he took out his rage on his brother. As a result, the very thing he loved the most, working from the ground, was cursed forever after it received the sacrificial blood of his brother.
To me, it is a reminder to follow His direction, and be more sensitive not to hurt others while I make my path through this life, stumbling, getting up, and learning, leaning, striving to be more like Him.

  3. Noah, chosen by God to be saved from the flood.

Joseph, chosen by God to be the earthly father for His one and only begotten Son.

Both men were entrusted with precious duties.

Listening to God, Noah built the ark.

Listening to God, Joseph protected baby Jesus, saving Him from the hands of ruthless rulers.

My God has revealed to me how precious purity is to Him. He has set me apart now for several years and I wonder why. Purity is just one result of the trial I am going through. It is my choice. Nothing but God and His Word keeps me from letting my flesh rule and seeking companionship and satisfaction from men.

Maybe that is too much information here.

Noah and Joseph are examples of the result of heeding God. We don't have to understand. We just have to obey.

Blessed be the Lord who calls us to His feet today. May we learn and obey.

  5. Just read your comment Bev and your last line, humbled before a very good God, and I read "tumbled before a very good God...kind of like that concept too. Sounds like it fits your morning. I have no doubt satan was trying to discourage you, as you tackle another year ever faithful to leading this sweet group through the Bible.

I'll write more later, after I've read today's reading...

  7. Waving hello, Cici, from Georgia! So good to "see" you here.
Encouraging you to lean forward as you wait on God. I know how hard it is, but He is directing your path (Proverbs 3:5-6). Don't forget that.
