Rev. 18:17 "Laid To Waste" (December 27)

Rev 18:17 ~ "In a single hour, all this great wealth has been laid to waste."  Not laid to rest but to waste.  Steve Jobs amassed millions in his short lifetime.  All laid to waste for him.  Gone to his children and their children.  Have I worked too hard to "hold on" to things that will be laid to waste?  Wondering this day what I need to let go of?

  1. High schooler Ben Breedlove unexpectedly passed away on Christmas Day. Britt knows his sister. He had a brush with death 3 weeks ago but pulled through. But yesterday, he couldn't hang on. If you go to twitter and look up #RIPbenbreedlove you'll find the video that he made last week before he died. He is one of the top ten hashtags today in the world. Kind of unbelievable. Ally and her mom didn't know Ben had made a video. A look into the heart of someone so real. May The Light of The World carry his mom and sibilings through such grief---losing your teenager on Christmas night. Please pray for The Breedloves.

  2. Praying for the Breedlove's. What grief they must have today. May God comfort them and carry them through these rough days and years ahead.

Strong words,Bev on have I worked too hard to "hold on" to things that will be laid to waste? When I see my adult children making choices that I would not make, when I thought I had taught them God's way, I am feeling like I've laid hold to some things that will be laid to waste. He has just told me, that He is not finished with me yet and I am not dead yet and He who has begun a work in me will see that it is accomplished and that I can still make an impact on their lives and others because I am still here. Praise His holy name. Blessings on all.

Bev, you are so right, through it all struggles and whatnot, we are NEVER alone. He came to me 43 years ago and assured me that night that I had never been alone and would never be alone again. He is a man of His Word and He has never failed me yet. I have failed Him, but He is faithful and true.

  3. I can't imagine their pain. Praying for the Breedloves this morning. So hard, especially Christmas Day!

I just looked up the reading for today in the OT/NT reading plan and it will be so rich. Can you imagine reading about the vision of the horseman, the vision of the golden lamp stand in Zechariah at the same time we read Revelation 18?
And my favorite from Zechariah today

"Return to me, says the LORD of hosts, and i will return to you, says the LORD of hosts."
