I Tim 1:1 "See God Walking on the Sea" (October 21)

I Timothy 1:1 ~ The first verse of I Timothy says that our hope is God.  It is not in the fulfillment of our dreams or desires or deadlines.  We live for this moment not for honors or graduations or weddings or benchmarks.  Oswald Chambers wrote:  "We tend to think that if Jesus Christ compels us to do something and we are obedient to Him, He will lead us to great success....We have the idea that God is leading us toward a particular end or a desired goal, but He is not...God sees the process as the goal itself...God's purpose is for me to depend on Him and on His power now... What He desires for me is that I see "Him walking on the sea" with no shore, no success, no goal in sight, but simply having the absolute certainty that everything is all right because I see "Him walking on the sea." It is the process, not the outcome that is glorifying to God."  My Utmost for His Highest ~ July 28th

I Timothy 1:5 ~ The aim of our charge is love that issues from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith.

  1. "The aim of our charge is love" not selfishness, not authority, not any one task accomplished...but love. I'm convinced most of our examination of heart should consist of this: How well did I love today? And I still fail most days.

"Some have made shipwreck of their faith" Where do we allow our minds to dwell? On what we cannot do or on what God is doing in and among us? Growing faith sometimes is simply recounting the history of God's faithfulness.

To the King of ages, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever.

    Makes me want to sing!
